I have the exact same problem, have been looking for hours today how to fix it, really need help
Hi everyone i have the solution for Windows 7 error and uninstallable for updating itunes 10.5.
Go into your window icon on the lower left corner and go into the all programs and find a icon or file that it titled Apple software update.
Click on it and update 3 items Safari, Itunes ad Quicktime all together after that everything will be smooth sailing from there on.
Hope these solution helps those that needed it. It works as i have encountered the same problem initially.
the answer of the guy above me solved me that same problem only on windows xp 32bit
I can attest as well that this resolves the issues with the installer package.
Ive tried to install iTunes 10.5 toughly 10 times over the past couple of days, getting the same message each time!
Taking into account what Windows 7 users did (I'm still running XP), I uninstalled Quicktime.
To be doubly sure, I then went to Control Panel, and selected Apple Software Update. It would not allow me to Remove it (getting a similar message to the iTunes message above), so selected: Change, then Repair.
When that was successful, I then clicked Change, then Remove.
When complete I then tried to install iTunes again from the website download and it has now finally worked!
the post from Millenium jeri worked for Vista too- thanks! Wish I had checked this site sooner- several hours wasted on that...
