Sound issues after upgrading to iOS 5

Hello,

Wondering if this is happening to anyone else. Yesterday I upgraded my iPad 2 to iOS 5 and today I notice that my system sounds are not working:

  • Lock button does not "click"
  • Unlocking gives no sound
  • Keyboard with no sound
  • When listening to music, if i press the lock or home buttons I get a clicking noise and sometimes there's a slight volume drop.

My iPad 2 was working just fine before this upgrade.

Anyone with the same kind of issues?!

Best regards,

Rodrigo

Ipad2 running ios5 I noticed today that several games have intermittent sound coming out of the speakers which Ihave neverseen before ios5. The game will start with sound then stop, I found that connecting the charge lead immediately brings the sound back but then it disappears again! I have seen this on Battlefield Bad Company 2, NOVA HD, Ricky Carmichaels MX Matchup. Have videoed it happening & booked into Genius bar on Friday!

This drove me crazy for several hours. DELLATA was exactly right. Really it has nothing to do with iOS 5.

The lock orientation switch was set to be a mute switch instead. I think one of my kids flipped it!

So if your apps have no sound, try flipping the orientation lock button above the volume buttons. If that fixes it and you don't want it to happen again, go into the general settings and change the "Use side switch to:" to "Lock Rotation" instead of "mute".

By the way...the mute/lock rotation switch only mutes notifications and app sounds (some apps). The switch does not mute sound from videos or music!

My ipad2 has always had the lock orientation/mute switch set to mute both with iOS4.3.x & with iOS5 & I never experienced any issues with sound in games before iOS5. HOWEVER having read the post on here I did change the use of the side switch to lock orentation in Settings->General & then used the side switch to turn orientation lock on & off a few times then set it back to mute again in settings, & during a quick test before work I was unable to replicate the intermittent sound in games issue I previously experienced so I suggest you give that a try but it seems like a bug in iOS5 to me.
