iCloud incoming mail server setting.

I'm not getting iCloud email and the incoming mail server setting (p99-imap.mail.me.com) is dimmed out and not editable. Ideas?

You don't have to type any server info for your iCloud account.

System prefs > Mail, Contacts & Calendars - New account and select iCloud.

Unfortunately, that was step 1 in the process of not being able to use my mail in iCloud. Also, I have tried changing my password to 8 numbers/letter, etc. in accordance with the new AppleID rules, but that did not work. I have also tried deleting and recreating my account multiple times. I am definitely willing to try any more suggestions.

As usual with Apple these days the solution is so simple it's counter-intuitive.

If you had an old MobileMe account as I did you may have to delete it - I did. So in Mail Preferences, I deleted my old Mobile Me account.

Then in System preferences, I selected iCloud just to make sure I'd signed up properly and activated it. You check the boxes you want to check, and of course include 'Mail & Notes'. It will automatically add an account called 'iCloud' to Mail.

And that's it. If you go to system preferences and select 'Mail, Contacts & Calendars' you'll see it (make sure 'Mail & Notes' is checked) - or just open Mail.

awesome...thnx. been having the same password reject problems on my imac mail for several days (not able to send or recv), but not on my MBP or my wife's imac or iphone.

as you suggested i deleted my mail acct, added a new icloud mail acct and am now again able to recv mail.

BUT...still can't send mail tho, still getting the "The SMTP server “p01-smtp.mail.me.com” rejected the password for user “corragh” Enter your password again or cancel." msg when trying to send.

thnx for the tip. if you have any thoughts re resolving the send issue, feel free to reveal them.

Only semi-awesome then? I've just tried sending and I didn't have the same problem you have, so sorry, no help there.

In my Mail Preferences under 'Accounts' in my iCloud account pane I see it's created an outgoing server simply called 'iCloud (iCloud)' and the box marked 'Use only this server' is ticked.

In the 'Advanced' pane there's nothing in the 'IMAP Path Prefix' box, the Port is 993, 'Use SSL' is ticked and Authentication is 'Apple Token'.

No idea what any of that means......

well...semi-awesome is still pretty awesome, particularly after 4-5 days of wrangling with the issue.

my outgoing mail set-up, as accomplished by adding a new icloud acct, is identical to yours as described above...and i agree, no idea what any of it actually means.

we'll see...probably get outgoing going after another week or so.

thnx again.
