Just updated to the latest Itunes, did a back up of the iphone, and ran the update for IOS 5. It did the update however, when it tried to do the restore from backup. Error (-50) came up and says can't restore. Happened before in the past, I don't think Itunes ever worked for backups for me. Not sure what the problem is, anybody have a fix?

go to apps on iphone while on itunes . un check sync apps, then click apply. after iphone applies changes, recheck sync apps and check each app you want to restore. cleck apply, then click sync and the apps should be restored to your iphone or ipad

Well I'm trying to restore everything from a backup. This update wiped my phone clean, now it won't let me restore.
same, everything wiped, error -50 when restoring.
Same thing happened to me and Apple wants me to pay them $29 to talk to an Apple rep who "may" be able to fix the problem. I am completely dissatisfied with Apple right now. My calendar was wiped out also and I was paying for MobileMe!
So, i Don't know why the Itunes is messed up on the computer where I did the update on, however, i managed to solve the problem. I just took the latest backup and transferred it to another computer and continued the restore on that computer and it worked fine. As far as actually fixing the error on Itunes, Im not sure. Itunes does some weird stuff.
I was thinking of doing that but I don't know how to transfer my backup to another computer. Could you explain how I do that please? TIA
Visit this http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4946 to know where your iTunes backups are stored on your computer (depends on the computer's Operating System) to copy it and that is also where you will put it on the other computer you want to use. Good luck!
I had this problem with a 5c which i was trying to restore without a SIM, I fixed it by putting a SIM into the phone.
