Same problem iPhone4 + iOS5, Zain Kuwait user.
All my contacts are with international code prefix.
I tried to identify the problem:
- zain #s have no issue.
- dialing Wataniya or Viva, names will not appear (as caller ID or while dialing).
- landlines like Salmiya are working, but Kuwait city are not.
- commercial #s like 18XXXXX are not working too.
at least american customers are complaining now. May be apple will do something about it.
I can confirm that 5.1 beta 2 resolves the caller ID issues. Everything is back to normal in terms of contacts recognition with or without country code.
It is just a matter of time for the final release to go public
Go to Settings ->General -> International -> Region Format, change it to spanish...
It is in Spanish, I've tried chancing it to English and back to Spanish and the issue is still there no problems with iOS4
Thanks
I changed it to Finnish, works like charm, with no ( ):s in numbers... Maybe they don't know spanish at Apple ;-)
This is really annoyng .. iwas fine with ios4. everytime i look at my phone and see (7)456-792 i guess i have 7 missed calls
I have the same issue here. Format for US vigiin Islands was 4085551212 in ios 4.3.5, now it is (408) 555-1212
I had similar issues. Even though Region Format was set to United States, all contacts in the US appeared as Netherlands in Contacts. Trying to call didn't work either. Finally I backed up, did a Restore as a new device in iTunes and then resynced with my lastest backup and everything works again. This was on a brand new 4s.
