Return policy for iPhone 4s

I ordered an iPhone 4s. To make a long story short, it is being delivered tomorrow, but I was going to return it. I tried to cancel the order earlier this week but was unable to. I didn't realize buying the phone partially subsidized reset my eligibility date and I am due in February.

If I want to try out the phone, is there any reason I need to return it sealed and unopened, or can I try it out for 30 days? I think Apple waived restocking fees for iPhone 4, and the website makes no mention of a restocking fee either.

I already confirmed with AT&T they would reset my eligibility date if I returned the 4s. Thanks!
