You can add a third party app like The Weather Channel app to the notification center but the iPad does not have the weather widget or stock widget in the nnotification center - only the iPhone (I think) has that feature.

Download TWC app and then add it by going to Settings>Notifications - tap the arrow on the right next to the TWC icon and then turn on Notification Center and select how you want to be notified.

Unfortunately this doesn't seem to work! I have got the notification set to banner rather than alert, would that make a difference?

Just wondering.. did you do a restore after you installed iOS 5?

I think this may be the problem unfortunatly.
