Sep 26, 2015 9:36 AM in response to mollyfromnewarkby TomClement,Hi Molly from Newark,
I had the same problem with my new iPhone. No amount of reentering the correct password would solve the problem. I was able to resolve it by changing the Channel on my NetGear WNDR3400 (http://192.168.1.1/start.htm for me) router. It was trial and error and nothing in the forums was helpful. I found that if I changed: Wireless Settings->Channel from "Auto" to a number, the problem goes away.
I figure that the Auto setting implied some negotiation with the phone, and guessed that Apple and Netgear don't entirely see eye to eye on the protocol.
Hope this helps.

Sep 26, 2015 9:42 AM in response to mollyfromnewarkby lllaass,Does the iOS device connect to other networks? If yes that tends to indicate a problem with your network.
Does the iOS device see the network?
Any error messages?
Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won’t connect to a Wi-Fi network
- Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Restore from backup. See:
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Oct 15, 2015 5:33 PM in response to TomClementby TomClement,The workaround described did solve the problem for my router, but when I needed to use another one at a public ice skating rink, it failed in the same way. I ended up working with Apple support and they had me completely restore my new iPhone 6s. Apparently, the software originally installed with it had some problem which (even after updating the software) prevented it from working properly.
After restoring the OS, I switched my router back to (Auto) and tried reconnecting from my phone. It worked.
