My old router worked great with AirPlay, but my new Belin Router sometimes does AirPlay with my iMac, iPad and AppleTv but somtimes none of the devices are displaying on the network. I have turned off the firewall on the router and I still have this problem. Do I need to buy a diffrent router to get AirPlay to work or is there any tips or tricks to get this to work?
Its a Belkin N750 DB wireless N+ router (2.4GHz & 8.5GHz)

Force all 802.11n 5GHz capable units to use the 5GHz network only.
If your Belkin allow to set a dedicated name for the 5GHz set it.
Disable the "Guest Access" of the Belkin to prevent your Mac from accidentally connect to that network.
Uncheck "Ask to join new networks" in the system settings of your Apple systems

Thanks for everyones replys! However none of those worked. I did reserch online and looks like other people with Belkin routers had the same problem. I decided to return the Belkin Router to Walmart and went to Best Buy and bought a Apple Router. Everything works perfectly now with a Apple Router. Problem now solved!
Had a similar issue when i bought apple tv and the found an update to the belkin router that fixed my issue.
You may want to update if you are not up to date. The standard update check in the router settings did NOT find this update.

I have a BelkinF5D7234-4-V1 found just doing a factory reset (see the belkin site) and reassining security as WPA2 did the trick. I must have had some setting or security that it didnt like.
Previously airplay would not work - however the devices were connecting ie my phone could see the tv and would say it is playing however it wasnt - so was a frustrating situation, but now its happy days.

i extensively looked into the problem. i bought a new denon amp 1912 to use the airplay feature. but somehow the airplay would not work. i thought the problem was with the amp denon 1912 but to cut the long story short the problem was with the router. i tried everything on the router. firewal settings, password settings, dynamic settings, etc etc etc , at last when i manually downloaded the latest firmware for the modem router and updated it, voila - the airplay started to work without any hitch. i have belkin n-150 adsl modem router F7D3402. simple solution after wasting days on the amp and the router. the in built firmware update feature somehow did not update the firmware. i hope this would help.
