Unfortunately, it's definitely on push. I've had all 5 iPhones, and this one with iOS 5 has definitely been the most troublesome.

Jamie, I'm no tech engineer and I know this is not a true fix, but with an open case still with Apple Support for weeks now and still no definitive solution, a person like who has a to have my emails pushed to stay abreast in what I do, this temporary solution does it for me.

Like Limegrntln, I've had very few times when it stopped working or I had to fetch emails again, but with a simple resetting of my iPhone or iPad, emails gets pushed again. It does work, it's a band aid for a problem with iCloud mail.

I don't expect everyone to follow my lead. Heck, this works for me, so whether someone else does it or not, it doesn't affect my emails getting pushed. There's always the Fetch feature for everyone else.

But speaking for myself, since I implemented this "fix," back when I posted it originally, I've only had three instances where I had to reset an iDevice (holding Home and Power buttons) to get it working again. That is a lot of days of not worrying about my emails not getting pushed. I need my emails pushed and I'm tired of waiting for my Apple Tech case to get some attention, and I know I'm not the only one.

Did you go into "Advanced" in the "Fetch New Data" section?  If not, then go there and make sure the account you want "pushed data" is set to "Push".  If that is already done, then I say back up your devise to your computer's iTunes account and then delete and restore your devise and start over!  Only do this after checking "all settings" make sure they are set correctly and the way you want them.  If they are all correct, just back up the devise and start over.  Sometimes all the software settings don't get set correctly the first time.

If you delete all information from the devise:

    1. Contact to iTunes

    2. Pick the latest back-up for restore

    3. Check all settings after the restore is TOTALLY COMPLETE!

Normally totally resetting the devise will correct any software issue.  Let me know if this helps.

I just woke up this morning to no emails. I checked it manually and 13 came in. I've definitely done all of that Grip. I've backed up and restored from a backup 9 times and as a new phone 5 times. I've hard reset probably 2 dozen, I've jailbroken it and un-jailbroken it. Ive had both 5.0.1 and 5.0.1 version 2 installed. I was hoping version 2 would fix it. I manually downloaded the v2 software, opened iTunes held down the button, selected the file and it let me restore with the v2 software, even though I had the old 5.0.1 already installed. Nothing is working for me. Like I said, I've had all 5 iPhones, so this isn't my first time around the block with this software. I also moderate a tech blog so I see this stuff everyday. Nothing has worked for me. And I soft reset (just holding down the sleep/ wake button until the off slider appears) about 3 times a day. I go into iCloud, turn mail off, soft reset, go back into iCloud and turn mail back on. It lasts for a few hours until it stops pushing, then info it again.

Unfortunately I've tried creating a new iCloud account (yesterday), did all the steps as mentioned by a previous poster, but as of this morning, not getting emails pushed.  I've done everything possible that I can think of, including several restores, setting up as a new phone, eventually, usually within a day, my push stops working again.  It's been 2-1/2 months of this!  It's ridiculous!

    Limegrntaln,

I see you have done all the hard work with all the restores, soft and hard re-boots.  You state that in the iCloud account settings under mail you say that in "Fetch New Data" that "Push" is turned on and you have selected "Every 15 minutes or 30 minutes or Hourly or Manually"?  Have you checked under "Advanced" to see if your iCloud mail account has "Push" next to it?  If not then change that setting after turn off that mail account under "Accounts" in the same screen and turning it back on, after at least a minute, to reset it.  Let me know if that works.

Please see my last post and those steps.  If not then you my need to go to the Apple Store Genius Bar for help.

I've tried all the above, NOTHING WORKS!!!

Sometimes I get mail pushed, sometimes I don't. It's a complete waste of time to be honest.

    I personally think that it's a problem with iCloud & it's servers.

I'm sure it'll get fixed, but as usual - the bigger apple become, the worse they get. Which I guess is understandable with all they got on their plate. It Happened with Microsoft, it's happening with apple too.

Unfortunately the "fix" worked, but only for about 48 hours. Now I'm right back to emails not being pushed and having to go into the mail app to retrieve them. Hopefully Apple will get this figured out and resolved soon!

I'm sorry to hear it's not working out for you. I know it's not the real fix, but for whatever reason my "fix" works, and continues to work for me. I can't explain it.

Have any of you escalated this issue to Apple's Express Lane? Perhaps when I escalated mine (to their Level 3, I think), they took care of my issue without telling me; and consequentially my fix really had nothing to do with it continually working for me. But looking back, my "fix" worked from the get-go, just moments from when I hung up the phone with Express Lane, so they couldn't have fixed it that quickly. I don't know, guys. Good luck and keep trying something.

Apple doesn't aknowledge that this is an issue. Its been happening to me for years, with my 3GS and now with my 4S. Its the mobile me/icloud server and email structure—they  need to figure it out.

Actually has been working pretty good as of late. Like 9/10 messages received. Better than 9/10 messages not notified about

Now its happening again. seems to be every couple weeks. Apple, get on the ball and fix this already!

Just like when the phone or network gets hung up, a quick "home and power buttons" restart can solve problems. So try that. I'm proud to say mine works great.
