I too have experienced similar problems, as my MP3 files sound awful. I have sent feedback twice to Apple but of course they haven't replied & sent an email to BBC Watchdog in the UK but they haven't got back to me (not a big enough story, perhaps?).It seems customer service doesn't exist as far as Apple are concerned! I will not buy anything from their store until they resolve this problem.

This has destroyed my previously very high opinion of Apple products and software. Tens of thousands of customers now have corrupted iTunes and have effectively lost the use of their music on their iPods/ iPhones/pcs etc.....

...without a hint of apology or any attempt whatsoever at assistance from Apple!

This is a major issue not only for a very large number of customers but for Apple's credibility overall... well worthy of being covered by consumer lobbies such as 'Which' and 'Watchdog', in view of the number of people affected and the evident impossibility of getting a response from Apple... a month after everyone with XP and AMD has been left out in the cold, abandoned by this company. Even worse is the apparent denial of knowledge that there is even a problem!

If this is indicative of Apple under new leadership, anyone with shares in the company would be wise to sell them as fast as possible! The shiny Apple logo now looks distinctly rotten, to 16,650 customers so far, over a period of only four weeks having their iTunes and their valuable music collections rendered useless by update 10.5. There will be many times that number affected.

What a waste of everyone's time and money.

Looks like it's back to p.c.and Mediaplayer for me ...and an increasing host of others! Trust Apple? Never again! Shame really, they used to be an inspiring company you could rely on.

Problem solved, but since my trust has been damaged, now I'm kind just waiting for something else to go wrong.

Lessons learned:

Unless you have any issues don't be to quick to update to any new versions of software.

Every time support requires you to make sure you have the latest software installed so they can proceed to help you, do not hesitate to remind them what just happened to all of us for doing so.

There are some good reasons I can think of why Apple may have kept this issue from the general public, but unfortunately through the process they have lost the trust of many of their passionate customers.

This was the first time I was really involved in these forums and to be honest it proved to be if some value.

Apple is great yet not perfect. It's is run by humans and for that they are allowed some mistakes just like all of us.

I forgive you Apple but I won't forget.
