IOS 5 FaceTime sound problem

Same Problem! After updating to IOS 5, FaceTime sound worked for a few seconds, then stopped. No problems in IOS 4. This is a software bug?

I seem to have similar problems , it worked fine in os4 but since I upgraded, I can see video but it comes on as mute and I can't change this to sound on.

Anyone have any help for an apple newbie ?

Same problem here. Verizon iPhone4 ios5 talking to mac. Sounds works for a min or two then I lose sound on the iphone. The mac can hear me fine. If I turn the phone compeletely off and back on, it will work for a min or two then lockup again.

Hope apple has a fix for this!

Update to my original post. I have since had a chance to test Facetime between two devices running iOS5, my iPod Touch and my wife's iPad2. Facetime works fine between these devices with no dropped sound. It seems to be an issue only when I use Facetime for MacOSX as one of the devices.

I have the same problem when I mute myself I can hear the other person. It only happens sometimes though, I'm starting to wonder if the iPad is overheating and causing the problem

iOS5 facetime is not working properly....I hope apple is rapidly working on a solution to the audio and dropped called problems.

I agree. It is really ***** trying to FaceTime my family and boyfriend when I'm 2000 miles away from them. My poor macbook ate crap, and all I have is my phone w/ the IOS5 update on it and the audio problem cuts out constantly during the calls. It is so frustrating! APPLE PLEASE SEE OUR CONCERN IN THIS THREAD!

I have the same problem since uypgrading my iPhone 4 to iOS 5 - no outgoing sound on Facetime to iPad 2!

Real nuisance as it worked fine on ios4, ie. prior to upgrade. APPLE PLEASE FIX IT - my toddler misses Daddy who is 8,000 miles away at present and Face Time today made it worse as he couldn't hear us on his iPad 2!

I have the same problem as many of you. My mom has an iPad 2 with ios5 and I have a MacBook Pro. After 10 minutes or so she can't hear me.

Apple, can you fix this problem?

I have the same problem as many of you with my iPad 2 with iOS 5. During a FaceTime chat, the other person cannot hear me. We've tried on Mac and iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S with iOS5 and none of them worked.

I tried to use my earphones with the built-in mic and it worked perfectly. When I unplugged them, it stopped working. For those of you waiting for a software fix, you can try the earphones trick and at least get it to work. Good luck.

I can confirm this works. Using the earphones and earphone mic, on Ipad2 Facetime to any other device, it works fine. Unplug the earphone and the called party can't hear you. The exact same issue exists, and the exact same remedy works, when calling via Skype. Ipad2 IOS5 calling Iphone4 with IOS 4

Same issue...my Macbook Pro was purchased less than a year ago, and tonight was the first time I attempted to utilize facetime with someone who owned an ipad and sure enough, after about 6-7 minutes in, I could hear her, but she couldn't hear me. I shut my computer down for about two hours, went back in and called her and it worked for about five minutes & did it again. I haven't seen anyone w/ any resloution and the fact that someone went into a Apple store and the emloyee @ Apple had not heard of this problem just baffles me.

I have the same issue with facetime. I am on 27imac 10.6.8 talking with daughter on new ipad2 and after about 10 minutes sound goes dead. I can hear her but she can't hear me. This has happened NUMEROUS times and is getting annoying. Facetime is great...when it is working. What's up apple?

I am now having the same issue between two iphones. My iphone is a 4 and the other is a three month old 4s. I can only assume, at the moment, that the new 4s software is up to date and my iphone is running 5. The problem is brand new. We have been using facetime since the newer iphone was purchased three months ago. We are both Verizon subscribers and no " side-button-pushing" works for me. The other phone can hear me fine, I cannot hear the other phone. Can anyone HELP!!!!
