AirPrint Activator to work with iOs 5?

I've checked out everything and the service for Windows is handling iOs 4x devices fine. The iOs 5 devices can't find my printer now.

Thx for any tips or solutions.

Yay!! I can now print from my iPhone 4S!! I had Airprint installed previously, but when I updated to IOS 5, I too lost the ability. Now its back with these great instructions!! Many thanks.

I have a Brother 4100E laser printer that I have networked using Cirago network adaptor. I did have to enable the Guest account in my Win7 computer. I'm so glad it works again.

For Windows 7 users:

Guimon's advice works perfectly from iPad on iOS5 with a USB printer hanging off my PC (Canon Pixma MP540 in my case).

However, remember to share your printer to all on your network:

Start / Devices and Printers

Right click on your printer and select Printer Properties and select Sharing tab and then check the Share this Printer box.

On the security tab, check that Everyone had Print permission set.

Also remember to set your firewall permissions for Airprint:

For F-Secure Internet Security (2011), open it up and select Settings and then goto Netowrk Connections.

Select Application Control and then Add.

Browse for or enter the full path to airprint.exe (C:\Program Files\Airprint\airprint.exe if that's where you've installed it) and set outbound and inbound connections to "Allow".

Enable your Guest User account and now you should be printing from your iPad. Good luck

I had the exact same problem LossAngeles.

Are you running Norton Security Suite? I was and that was my problem even though I had it set to "allow" it still did not work. Here is how I fixed it:

In Norton Security Suite go to: Manage fire wall

Program Rules

Find AirPrint for windows

Highlight AirPrint, then click on Modify at the bottom

Then click Modify on this new page

next click on the communitcations tab

Select TCP for the protocol to allow

Then down below select: "Only communications that match all types and ports listed below"

next select ADD

Select "Individually specified ports"

Select "Local"

For port number: 631

Works like a charm now, hope that saves someone hours of googling, I was going in circles because it was set to allow the whole time, that wasn't good enough apparently!

I'm using MS security essentials. I've had no luck so far as getting documents to print. I see the printer but all output is going out to space some place (In other words while the iPhone says it's printing and I rec'v no errors, nothing prints).

Did you enable the guest account as others have suggested? I did that and didn't get any results so disabled it. I can easily afford Finger Print but it's a matter of principle... I shouldn't have to pay $10 to anyone to print a document from my iPhone which I could do before this lousy 5 update. Apple really blew it on this one as far as I'm concerned. In another year Apple will be another Micro$oft if it isn't one already.

BTW, my printer is a Brother network printer connected wirelessly.

Thanks for the feedback,

I was having the EXACT same proble as you. The key to fixing mine was specifically opening port 631.

You should try to force MS SE to open port 631 by:

  • Open Windows Firewall by clicking the Start button User uploaded file, and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type firewall, and then click Windows Firewall.
  • In the left pane, click Advanced settings. User uploaded file If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
  • In the Windows Firewall with Advanced Security dialog box, in the left pane, clickInbound Rules, and then, in the right pane, click New Rule.
  • Follow the instructions in the New Inbound Rule wizard.

That was taken from MS website, I'm using Norton so I don't know if it works or not.

Worked perfectly after going into the Firewall and manually (add, browse, etc) adding the airprint.exe file. Also if using 64 bit add (x86) to path after Program Files

Thanks......was going crazy with this, was about to buy Fingerprint but after seeing the price increase to $19.95 ;-( I decided to rack my brain a little more ....thanks again
