Taking hours to restore iPhone from backup. After updating to ios5

I've been waiting 3 hours so far and the green bar seems to be stuck at 1/5

The time remaining keeps adding more time and i'm at 22 hours remaing right now.

Is there something wrong? or will I just have to wait and see what happens

I'm having the same issue on ipad 2 upgrade to ios5. At one point it said less than one minute remaining then it's progressively moved up to 22 minutes. It's been 4 hours.


Do we stop and start over or just wait?


There are postings suggesting security software setting issues or port issues but it seems those are in response to error messages not just taking a long time.


Any answers for being stuck / taking a long time?

Mine says that it is still restoring! Somebody on another discussion recommended the following, although I haven't had chance to try this yet or not sure if I should just disconnect from the restore process?


Looks like your backup can't be read by iTunes.

You should start from the scratch by setting it up "as new device". All the data needed like contacts, apps, media should already be on your computer.

I solved with my Iphone4 restore from back up.

After I left all night long working on the back up, I disconected it from Itunes ( it gave error (-10) ) and restarted my PC (Vista).When I re connected the device to Itunes it completed the restore in few seconds.

It seems before It wasn't able to close the restore and all seems run ok.
