iTunes - Step 7 of 7 waiting for items to copy - hanging

After leaving it running all night it is still hanging in 'Waiting to copy'

I have deleted the 'itunes photo cache' in iPhoto and deleted it from the trash and restarted iTunes, connect the phone and tried again.

Everything up to date;MacBook Pro running Lion 10.7.2 and iOS5 all installed.

Any solution to the problem would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.User uploaded file

I was having similar sync problems after I upgraded my iPhone 4 to iOS 5 but found a simple solution.

Cancel the sync in iTunes.

In iTunes turn off Genius (Menu > Store > Turn Off Genius). Then un-tick the Sync options for all the following for your device (iPhone, iPad etc.):

Sync Ringtones

Sync Movies

Sync TV Shows

Sync Books

Sync Photos

Now press the Sync button. All the items will be removed (quite quickly, if not un-plug the device and plug it back in). Subsiquent pressing of the Sync button will now complete fully and quite quickly.

Now go back to iTunes and reselect the Sync tick box options for all the items you disables as in the list above.

Press the iTunes Sync button. After all the items have been re-synced press the Sync button again as some further artwork may need syncing.

Now turn Genius back on (Menu > Store > Turn Genius On) and then press the Sync button again. After it finishes press Sync one more time and after this all should be back to normal. 🙂

I was having a very similar problem using iTunes 10.5, iphone 4, and brand new io s5 - sync kept hanging, even after waiting all night. Tried numerous fixes - no benefit.

Then I rebooted my computer and retried "sync with this computer" from a cold boot (wifi turned off in phone) and the sync completed successfully. Wifi is now back on. Hope this works for you too!

I tried everything on this post and suddenly I realized I had made some changes to the Quicktime folder, now iTunes is working again but I get to move my library again...

just in case any of you guys find this helpful, I had changed the QTSystem folder name inside Program Files/Quicktime because it crashed Adobe Fireworks, I returned it to its original name and now everything is working fine.

@Dr. Livingstone

How widespread is the problem? Everyone who posts here is experiencing it! :-)

@All,

I have this problem as well. I have no voice memos. I am syncing with me.com, not with the iCloud. I am using USB to connect to iTunes, not WiFi. I am syncing an iPad, not an iPad 2. All versions of software and firmware latest. The message, "Waiting for items to copy," seems to remain forever, but the sync eventually DOES complete, i.e., the message disappears. It just takes a very long time. I don't know how long, because I just start the sync before going to bed. I believe the problem occurs in my case during syncing of photos in iPhoto. I do receive a message that some photos will not be synced because they cannot be played on the iPad, but I have been receiving that message ever since acquiring the iPad, i.e., it is not the result of upgrading to the latest version of the soft- and firmware.

Regards,

Richard
