Iphone 3GS slow after update to iOS 5

After updated to iOS 5 my Iphone 3GS became generel slow.

Graphics and starting apps are slow. Some apps have now up to 10-15 seconds start time.

I thought closing the Iphone and restart clould help, but NO.

Yeah, like OS windows upstarts. 😁

Ok. processor not the same as new Iphone 4s.

I started to regret my update to iOS5.

Happy New Year, everyone!

I'm having the exact same issues with my 3Gs as described in many other posts in this forum. Apps take forever to launch, native apps like SMS, Mail, Phonebook, Camera, System Preferences etc. respond sluggish and the overall performance feels slow and sluggish in general. It's a 8GB iPhone 3Gs, and I had performance issues back with iOS4 as soon as it had less than 1GB of free space. I considered that to be annoying already, however, I didn't expect the problem to worsen with the upgrade. I actually had hoped that the performace might improve. Well, silly me — how could I've been so naive, huh?! I've deleted so many photos and music already, that I'm up to 1,9GB in free space out of 6,2GB capacity. I mean seriously, what the ****!

It's very clear, that this is not a sporadic problem, but that a majority of 3Gs users who are running iOS5 are having similar issues.

If apple is going to further refuse to address this, my next phone will be an android for sure. I'm not letting myself being forced into upgrading my hardware. APPL — fix this… quickly!

Cheers!

I followed the instructions to reset my 3GS two weeks ago. Since then I have not updated any apps. The phone was fine immediately after the upgrade but has now gradually slowed down to it's previous sluggishness. Also it now hangs when swiping between windows. ie moving from page to page it will hang with part of one window shown and part of the next.

Ok, so after reading all of these it looks like its more of a pain than its worth to upgrade the 3GS to IOS5. I posted a post asking this exact question really and found my way over here.

I have another question. Is there any way to get the "Find my iPhone" feature working on a 3GS running 4.0.1 (I think thats what its running)??

The 3GS is basically my daughters phone now and I know she's going to misplace it. Only a matter of time. If I can somehow get that feature to work then I don't have to worry about upgrading and showing her how to delete all the backround apps every day. She plays about 100 different games/apps on it and would jam up that phone really quick.

Thanks

Tmilless - I was using "Find My iPhone" as a Mobile Me feature with 3GS long before iCloud and iOS5 wereintroduced - so if your 3GS is already associated with a MM account, then you could do that too. However, I don't think you can open a new MM account now - and if you already transitioned from MM to iCloud you can't go back to MM. At least, I believe that's the situation, perhaps someone else can correct that if it's wrong.
