Bluetooth problem after iOS5

Until iOS5 my bluetooth car kit always showed the signal bars.

Yesterday I upgraded to the new version of iOS and now my car kit doesn't show anymore the signal bars! 😟

I don't find any new settings...

You're right, the problem is caused from iOS 5, even if Ford was able to fix it with an update of the bluetooth system. I'm using a Nokia bluetooth car kit, and for me it is not an option to update the firmware.

Hope Apple will apply a fix to iOS 5.1

So it could be a problem with iOS 5 and Nokia's bluetooth interpretation....

Cause all worked fine before iOS 5 (3GS with iOS 4.3.5), it's Apple who can do the fix.

I have checked Nokia's website for my car kit (CK-15W) and they say it's compatable with IPhone (including showing signal strength and battery bar). The implemented bluetooth specification is 1.2.

The supported bluetooth profiles of CK-15W are:

Hands-free Profile 1.5, Phonebook Access Profile 1.0

I think that the update from Ford was an update to a higher bluetooth specification level, and Apple has done the same. It's not so unusual that sometimes a higher specification level is not fully backward compatable.

My problem is, that the car kit does not allow an update, so if Apple does not fix their part the only option would be to buy a new car kit.

I Have a Renault Megane (2010)

After upgrading to iOS5, I'm unable to select the previous song, just the next one, when my GPS beep me, about traffic cameras, the music stops for a few seconds, and sometimes don't start.

If I answer a phone call the music stops, and don't come back again, and the phone call number is not being displayed on my car.

And everything were wrorking just fine before this.

Does anyone knows if Apple is going to fix this?

Also updated mine which was big mistake. I have a 2009 fiesta and before update was fine now it's a joke. All I can do is dial a number manually sometimes. Ford say eventually there will be an update but will cost me about a £100.

APPLE why should I pay for this when it's your update which has caused this not me. Also let us reverse back to iOS 4.

You have really messed up and time you took quick action before you lose a lot of customers.

Sorry but despite what the Ford owners here say the problem is with the iOS update and not their cars... it worked before the update but not after so clearly the update is broken. Simples.

And as much as I understand the frustration with Apple, all major software updates like this will have some problems and most of the ones with iOS 4 did get fixed... what I'm finding frustrating is that there seems to be no official channel into which to feed these obvious bugs and to get information on when they may be fixed.

It would be nice even if a moderator would respond occasionally and say "Yes, we know about that". We know the mods are out there... since some of the more "vocal" posts on this thread have to have been deleted by somebody!

Where is the long message I posted here yesterday about unable to Bluetooth connect my iPhone 3GS or iPad1 either to each other or to my expensive Griffin Beacon TV remote unit which is at this point about as useful as a door stop wihtout bluetooth connecton?

All stopped working since updating to IOS5. Tried everything and no Bluetooth connections though just once did connect my iPhone to my iPad1 but next time I tried same probelm and wont connect.

Problem is quite obviously with Apple's IOS5 so they need to fix it today, not tomorrow or next week because thiis is an urgent problem for millions of folks I reckon and from the number of forum posters also with this BT problem with IOS5.

I am having the same problem with my Nissan Maxima. before os5 no issues with my bluetooth. After the the upgrade my calls keep going in and out. When that happens i can't even switch the phone from bluetooth to iphone mode. Any suggestions. This is so annoying that I am considering going back to os 4.

Well, it's not just a problem with Bluetooth in cars.

After the iOS 5 upgrade my iPhone can no longer connect with my PC laptop.

I use my iPhone as a personal hotspot and prefer to make the link from the laptop via Bluetooth rather than via WiFi (for security reasons) or tethered (which works but is less convenient).

I've tried initiating the pairing from the laptop and from the phone; neither works.

And, of course, it all worked fine on iOS 4.
