APSDaemon.exe error

Greetings,

ever since I installed iTunes 10.5 on my Windows 7 32 bit PC I get the following error every time iTunes starts.

APSDaemon.exe. The instruction at 0x5eebcfe3 referenced memory at 0x00000004. The memory could not be read.

I click OK, iTunes seems to work ok but I would prefer not to get the error. I've upgraded my ios devices to ios 5, but the error comes up as soon as iTunes starts.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Thanks for the reply, if you find a fix, can you reply here please?

I've actually got sick of iTunes starting by itself all the time so have disabled the automatic connection of my devices, kept slowing my PC down too much and just unnecessary really, still get the error when I start iTunes, just not all the time.....

I'm getting exactly the same error.

I'm not sure what's starting the program, is it iTunes? iCloud?

I'm running Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate. iPad and iPhone backups and sync still seems to work.

Even with a sync running APSDaemon doesn't appear in task manager.

I'm fairly new to the world of Apple, is it worth calling their support? (I'm in the UK)

Do Apple read these forums?

I noticed this error today as well... Then realized it popped up only after turning on "Automatic Downloads" option in Stores tab. So, when I unchecked them, the error didn't come up.

Try this.

FYI, this APSDaemon.exe error seems to prevent devices on current network (iPhone, in my case) to be mounted. Unchecking Automatic Downloads options cleared this error, and iTunes discovered and mounted iPhone without much problem.

The reason why many are having lockups is that the following are running,

APSDaemon.exe*32 25 to 50 percent of you CPU processing power (the higher number IF you SYNC)

iTunes.exe*32 25-50 percent of your processing power (the higher number is IF you plug in device or sync)

Both of these togeather will put your system at 100 percent bringing your system to a grind or a halt

If you right click in windows task manager on APSDaemon and "end process" your system pops up to being manageable (running 50 percent with I tunes open and up to 94 percent with a mobile device like Itouch being sync(ed))

So those who can't sync or even have their computers recognize their iphones (etc).. try this. (I also went in to "settings" and 'reset sync history' in the "devices" tab. (that may have not been necessary.. but if your are sync(ing) multiple devices.. it may be necessary)

On top of that you have

AppleMobileDeviceService.exe*32 running at 20 some percent pretty constantly even when you don't have iTunes open which is dragging my system. This appears to be spiking my processor affecting my sypware/antivirus.

I hope I (we) hear more than the echo of our voices here! I'm starting to lean toward apple.. it may be my next computer.. but if this is how... I will leave this unstated and PRAY apple will help us! After all... name me a better device than even a ipod version 3 or an iphone version 3 other than a higher version ipod or iphone!!!!!

CAN'T DO IT.. CAN YOU!!!!!!!!

Computer is hptouchsmart (a processor drainiging machine as it is)

Windows vista (i know ... it *****.. )64 bit (which makes you wonder since I specifically downloaded the 64 vistta version of Itunes and I constantly get the *32 in my 'processes" window of the task manager.

THE same exact problem is happening on my Windows 7 toshiba satelite pro

I'm having problems with this too. I'm running Windows 7 64-bit as a media centre, and with iTunes 10.5 installed on the same box, its causing lots of issues, not just with sync and iCloud access, but it appeasr to mess up something in the Media Centre software too. Various buttons on the media centre remote, no longer work, like skip forward and backward, or Stop. I suspect the iTunes process running in the background is somehow intercepting the commands thinking it must be for music control.

I have the same issue as many others in that the iCloud control panel refuses to connect and keeps telling me there is a server error, when if you log in as a new user, it connects no problem, and I can connect for a 32 bit machine with no issues. I've tried the netsh winsock reset 'fix' but it doesn't work for my setup.

Sadly, I've resorted to uninstalling iTunes for the time being as its causing too many hassles.

I no longer have the error since disabling automatic downloads, so thanks, hope Apple fixes it though.

I still have problems mounting iDevices though, now and then I am told that iTunes does not recognise the iPod Touch or iPad etc and the PC still gets slowed down to a crawl at times with iTunes running.

Not a great update to be honest......
