Hi there,

After much research on the internet I have finally found the solution.

Steps are:

  1. Update your device to iOS 9;
  2. Go to notes on your iPhone;
  3. select the folder "On My iPhone";
  4. select edit;
  5. select all;
  6. select move
  7. select "iCloud".
  8. done.

Thank you for reading.

The only way to do that that I know of so far is with CopyTrans Contacts (requires PC and iPhone USB connection for it to work). I copy/paste the instructions directly as they appear on the guide:

1. Download CopyTrans Contacts from the following page: http://www.copytrans.net/copytranscontacts.php

2. First, you need to connect your iCloud account with the program. To do so, from the main program window, navigate to “More > Cloud setup”

User uploaded file

3. Click “+ New connection” and then click “iCloud”

User uploaded file

4. Next, enter your iCloud account credentials, check the box next to Notes and click “Add account”

User uploaded file

5. Close the “Cloud setup” window and from the main program window click the Notes icon on the left. You will see both the local iPhone notes saved within the “On My iPhone” account and the notes from your iCloud account. The iCloud notes are marked by a small cloud icon

User uploaded file

6. Now select a local iPhone note, right-click and choose “Move to…” or “Copy to…”. Finally, choose your iCloud account. In my case, it appears simply as “iCloud account”.

7. You can transfer multiple notes from “On My iPhone” account to your iCloud account at the same time. To select multiple notes, simply check the box next to each respective note.

User uploaded file

NOTE: The “Move to…” function transfers the local iPhone note to the iCloud account and deletes the original note. The “Copy to…” function copies the local iPhone note to the iCloud account and keeps the original note under “On My iPhone”

8. The selected local iPhone notes are now transferred to iCloud. This is indicated by the small cloud icon which appears next to each of the respective notes

User uploaded file

9. You can verify that the local iPhone notes were moved to iCloud by logging in to iCloud and navigating to the Notes section

User uploaded file

10. The notes which previously appeared locally under “On My iPhone” are now saved to iCloud User uploaded file

I just discovered that on IOS 9 with the new notes app you can now easily move the notes from "On My Phone" to "iCloud".

Just go to your notes "On my phone", then "Edit" then "Move all" and select the folder on iCloud and voila, the notes move to iCloud in seconds.

I just moved 70 notes and it worked great. I went to icloud.com and there they all were. Thanks for the enhancement Apple 🙂

No, that is the button you tap to get to the screen where your different notes folders are listed: iCloud, On My Phone, Gmail, etc.

Go to that screen, and select the notes folder that you want to move to icloud

Yes - I know that the Edit key is greyed out on the Folder screen. You have to select the folder you want to move the notes from....

When the notes display, tap on Edit, then on "Move All"

I see both a Delete All option and a Move All option....one is on the right and one is on the left.

Are you signed into iCloud on your device, and do you have the Notes option turned on in iCloud?

I am signed into ICloud, notes is turned on, it's syncing some the notes created under the ICloud folder just fine.

Selecting a folder just brings me back to the list of notes, which only shows a "delete" option when things are selected, regardless of folder. There is no move button, there is nothing in the left on any page other than the compose page. The only options are delete and cancel.

That little icon in the bottom left corner, the 4 boxes, I don't have that. Where your screen shows "move all" and "delete all" in the bottom corners, I only have "delete all". I do have the option to add a photo by long pressing in the note screen, just like if I wanted to paste some text. I'm using 9.3.1, which is what my phone seems to have shipped with (iPhone SE), so I haven't upgraded the OS myself. There is no update to the Notes app available for me in the app store, so I'm not sure how that would be upgraded separately. Due to the reports of devices being bricked, I'm not installing the 9.3.2 update, I'll wait for the next one, but that couldn't be the problem since it wasn't available when the last posts were made. Is this a feature that was removed with 9.3.1?

The "move" option would be a lot better if "iCloud" were one of the available options. I have iCloud with over 200 notes there. 8 notes are stranded on my iPad and cannot be moved, except into a different folder on my iPad.

I used copy and paste to write new notes on my iCloud account. (Why doesn't "select All" appear in Notes?). It is clunky solution but the only thing available.

Hi. On my iPhone 7, this is not working. I have set up Notes up to use iCloud and I think I have done that correctly (but maybe not). When I select a note to move, iCloud does not show up as a choice in the folder list. Only On My Phone is available. Is there something I need to do after I've set it all up? Synch with iTunes? Backup to iCloud (I've done that)?

This isn't making sense to me.

TIA
