I don't really know, I have been getting this message since Wednesday and yesterday I came up with the idea that it should not be a problem with Apple, since the error message popped up almost instantaneously always... Have you got any firewall, or any other similar app which could be interfering your connections?

P.D.: I have just received a similar error message when trying to install SugarSync. Guess who was the responsible...

I have contacted apple support for this problem and was suggested to make a so called PRam reset:

.. which did not help

apple support's 2nd idea was to try using another user account to try the icloud login - which then worked; so I created a new user account and moved all data over .. I'm done now more or less but of course this is not really a solution to the problem ..

I also checked the keychain - but do not have any problems here (with either user accounts)

I think I may have found a solution for this.

1. Quit all running programs including System Preferenes.

2. Go to /Users/(Your Username)/Library/Application Support from the Finder>Go>Go to folder menu.

3. Rename the folder 'iCloud' to 'iCloud OLD' (this is effectively removing it from the system but retaining it on disc in case you need it back)

4. Run System Prefereneces

5. Try signing into iCloud again.

It worked for me!

(Lion created a replacement iCloud folder in /Users/(Your Username)/Library/Application Support)

Let me know if this works for you!

I think I've found a solution:

1. Quit all programs including System Preferences.

2 Go to /Users/indie/Library/Application Support using the Finder's Go>Go To folder menu item.

3. Rename the folder 'iCloud' to 'iCloud old'

This may have fixed the problem.

(Renaming rather than deleting the old folder just means you can get it back again if you want it.)

Let me know how this works for you!

Didn't work for me. But I have the same Problem.

Cannot login to iCloud from my mac. iPod is working. And I have in my konsole continousliy following error message:

Oct 20 20:10:44 veits-mac-mini com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[124] (com.apple.ubd[991]): Exited with code: 254

Oct 20 20:10:48 veits-mac-mini ubd[992]: SecKeyCreatePair returned 100013

and securityid process is running with 90%.

Do not have little snitch or any other firewall running.
