wifi sync not working windows 7 64bit

So I have an ipod 4th generation, windows 7 64 bit, with the latest itunes 5, latest ios5, everything up to date, and wifi sync is simply not working. I have tried *everything*. Reboots, turning options on and off in itunes, you name it.

My laptop is connected per wifi to the same router as the ipod. The laptop has itunes and bonjour installed, itunes is running. Firewall is off.

Any ideas?

I can see that my ipod is visible via bonjour from the laptop using a third-party software called "bonjour browser", so there must be an issue or bug with itunes or ios...

Having the same problem with the same setup. On the iPod Touch it says that "synch will resume when 'Laptop' is available", and the ~Sync Now~ button is greyed out. Also, in iTunes, the iPod isn't listed.

With the Discovery (Bonjour Browser) App on the iPod, I can see iPod, but not the laptop running iTunes.

Have also rebooted iPod, computer, and router, and made sure, after checking to enable Wi-Fi Sync in iTunes, to click "Sync Now" on the iPod under iTunes Wi-Fi Sync while tethered with the USB cable (in which case the iPod and the Laptop happily recognize that each other exist).

Any help would be appreciated.

Something I noticed in my event viewer. Now, everytime I start iTunes, I get a series of errors from Bonjour Service that look like this:

ERROR: handle_resolve_request bad interfaceIndex 24

I get 24, in fact. With the index number running from 1 to 24.

I wonder if you are receiving in any similar errors in your event viewer?

I also wonder if there's a way to re-install Bonjour without re-installing iTunes.

I've got my iPod showing up in iTunes now, unconnected, over wi-fi.

Two things have changed.

1) I uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes as per this doc: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1925

2) I am in a coffee shop, on a different router.

My advice would be to try number 2, first. See if taking your computer and device onto a different network makes any difference.

If that doesn't work, try uninstalling iTunes and reinstalling.

For me, it went smoothly. All of my podcasts, libraries, and settings were maintained, and without having to reset anything in iTunes in terms of wi-fi or cloud, the iPod popped up under devices.

The bonjour errors still show up in the event viewer. I don't know what that's about.

Let me know if either solution works for you. And I'll post back, once I'm home, and let you know if the problem was solved by moving to a different network or reinstalling things.

@tomoyat1 I tried the bonjour download, but it didn't help with my situation.

@sharanam I don't know what that's about.

@all.

So, for me, my wi-fi sync works when I'm out in public, at a cafe, or otherwise open, public wi-fi area. At home, I've gotten it to work, and slowly, by setting up an ad-hoc network and then having my laptop and iPod join that. It seems, in my situation, to be something router specific.

I had some issue with the itunes wifi sync on my iphone 4s too. both my phone and laptop were connected to the same router yet the sync now button was always disabled on iphone. I have a laptop with win7 x64 on it. I didn't tried the methods you guys suggested above, but I played around with my router settings and it seemed to resolve my problem. It seemed like it had something to do with the NAT filtering option on my netgear router. As soon as I changed my NAT filtering from secured to open, the sync now button was enabled and my phone appeared in itunes. It might have something to do with the SPI firewall too. So whoever has similar problem can try to change their router setting to see if it's a fix.

Tried everything and finally figured it out. Go to Control Panel>System and Security>Windows Firewall>Advanced Settings>Inbound Rules. Make sure all Bonjour Services and SyncServers are Green(Enabled) and also that they have both Private and Domain checked(double click, then go to advanced). Restart the computer and start iTunes, plug in the phone to power and it will sync.
