95% approx. of my music no longer plays since i updated to ios 5

All the songs are displayed in the "music" app, but when chosen to play, it does nothing. is there a solution aside from deleting them all and putting them back on? (assuming this'll fix it), which i'm reluctant to do as i've about 6000 songs
