    The Apple community support forums are not tallied polls.  The manual 3G/2G toggle doesn't exist on the iPhone 4S. Agreeing here that a 3G/2G toggle should exist, doesn't help anyone or change the facts.

    @transmogrification

    How would you know what Apple does with the posted information?

    Read the terms of service!

    Here, let me quote:

    "Be polite. Everyone should feel comfortable reading Submissions and participating in discussions. Apple will not tolerate flames or other inappropriate statements, material, or links. Most often, a "flame" is simply a statement that is taunting and thus arbitrarily inflammatory. However, this also includes those which are libelous, defamatory, indecent, harmful, harassing, intimidating, threatening, hateful, objectionable, discriminatory, abusive, vulgar, obscene, pornographic, sexually explicit, or offensive in a sexual, racial, cultural, or ethnic context.

    Post constructive comments and questions. Unless otherwise noted, your Submission should either be a technical support question or a technical support answer. Constructive feedback about product features is welcome as well. If your Submission contains the phrase “I’m sorry for the rant, but…” you are likely in violation of this policy.

    Do not post polls or petitions or links to same."

    This is not SpaceBook. It's a user to user technical support forum to help fellow users understand or solve issues.

    I strongly feel your comment was inflammatory, since myself and others have posted the helpful suggestion of submitting feedback to Apple using their feedback form for a feature request of the 3G/2G toggle. Apple has stated clearly that the iPhone 4S and the CDMA iPhone 4 do not have the manual toggle. The phones auto toggle from 3G to 2G as needed.

    Others and myself have attempted to explain some cold hard facts of cellular technology to help better understand the iPhone 4S. The iPhone 4S is not merely a GSM phone nor just a CDMA phone, it's a hybrid phone designed around both cellular technologies.

    You realize that you just (accurately, in my opinion), criticized yourself?

    My appologies, Meg, Andreas838, and others. My intentions were and are not to stifle constructive dialogue or dissenting opinion, only to promote it and present relevant facts.

    I feel this topic has turned into mostly a bonfire of positional cheer leading with no real helpful regard to the real issues and facts surrounding them. My appologies for taking my frustrations of that out here.

    My appologies, again. I am not an insensitive person, I have no intention of being rude or discourteous and I sincerely apologize for being insensitive and unwelcoming.

    Being unable to turn off 3G is causing me all sorts of problems on my new 4S, the battery is drained fast because where I live and work my 3G signal is very weak, and I cannot make and receive calls when the signal bar reaches zero.... APPLE PLEASE HELP US AND PUT THE 3G OPTION.

    I had an iPhone 4 before and it was working flawlessly

    That does not turn off 3G only cellular data. Due to how the walls in our office are constructed we do not have a good 3G reception resulting in dropped calls or no reception at all. When we called Apple the sugested that we keep using iPhone 4 or install a 3G transmitter from our service provider in the building. The iPhone 4S do automatically downgrade it self to i.e. edge but all phone calls are dropped during the switch-over. We have ordered a 3G transmitter to support 4S.
