Jan 28, 2012 8:11 PM in response to IdrisSeabrightby macteen94,Actually, you can. This option is back in iOS 5.1 beta, and if a feature is readied in beta it has never in the past been taken away AGAIN. The only reason they would get rid of a feature added to the beta would be if it compromised the phone in some way or violated some legal requirements or contracts with the cell carriers. Expect it in the public release of 5.1 for sure.

Jan 28, 2012 8:15 PM in response to T.Dallasby macteen94,If you do not know what AT&T is, I would say Google it... But then again, if you don't know what AT&T is you probably don't know what Google is either.

Jan 28, 2012 8:19 PM in response to macteen94by tyler39,Macteen only ATT has the disable 3G feature in the upcoming update as CDMA networks must run 3G. I only get that feature when I insert my ATT sim. My bell one does not have it.

Jan 29, 2012 1:08 AM in response to macteen94by T.Dallas,You know, some times is nice just to give a simple answer, lets just say : google it ... or you just ignore the question if you think that is out of your standards of knowledge.
Is far better than insulting someone that you do not really know.

Yes, features have been in beta releases and not in final releases, for just the reasons you mentioned and, for ones we probably will never know. Until it has been released, nothing is set in stone.

I will have your comments removed very soon after you post them.
You will be defeated.

Jan 30, 2012 2:57 PM in response to Dah•veedby AdnanB,Who the heck are you to declare such a thing?
Anyway, whatever your feelings about you-know-what, there have been positive advances in iOS in part due to it (notifications, multitasking, app store etc.) so no need to call a person a troll just because the "evil" word was uttered.
Anyway, 5.1 will bring back the toggle but clearly the function was there all along. Maybe it's thanks to "the-word-that-shall-not-be-named" that this toggle was restored to begin with since it was added not long after the 4S jb was announced.
Report this post if you want, don't care. Just don't act like you own the place.

Jan 30, 2012 2:52 PM in response to AdnanBby tyler39,iOS 5.1 only brings back the toggle for ATT users. As CDMA customers require 3G to run the iPhone 4s. Also here in canada no carrier will have it.

Jan 30, 2012 2:58 PM in response to tyler39by AdnanB,What makes you say canada won't have it? It's all GSM here.

Jan 30, 2012 8:03 PM in response to tyler39by AdnanB,Must be a carrier thing. I'm sure a carrier update will be required then once it's officially released.

Feb 4, 2012 6:33 AM in response to macteen94by elvantin,And from where do you know about what does ios 5.1 have and what it doesn't? In my opinion, first of all that 3G enable-disable button is very important, for millions of users. When you're a tipical iphone user, you don't even realise that the button is missing, and you don't see anything unusual in recharging twice a day. But when you have grater espectations from your idevice, which you paid a lot of money to buy it and to get apps, than it turns out to be a great problem.
I would like to give myself as an example: i personally own an iPhone 3Gs and an 4S, both with 5.0.1. Ok, on 3GS i have no problem.. the button is still there, on 4S i don't have any. I don't use 3G, and if i want to use it i turn it on, browse the web or usually open maps when i'm on the road, and after i'm done with it i close 3G. The second thing is that i live in a small town with poor 3G signal. So, in this case, why to keep 3G enabled with ony 1line of signal instead of full edge? i want to use my device first of all as a PHONE.. but... how? it's 3G but it doesn't work... because i'm at the "edge" of the 3g signal.
I personally think that 3G button must be re-entered in the os.

Feb 12, 2012 5:36 PM in response to waterblaze123by GarryJay,I am in New Zealand and back in the days when I got the 3GS it drained like crazy unless I turned off the 3G function.
Same with the 4S, it drains like crazy and I tried every single energy saving trick out there.
Please apple, for crying out loud, not all countries in the world have a perfectly covered 3G network. Let me turn 3G off!!!!
As of now, it renders the phone pretty much useless to me unless I run around with phone chargers all over my face. Glad I also have an android. And this triggers me since I am an apple fan boy.
