Oct 26, 2011 6:34 PM in response to jpozukby bob55105,I think the value in posting lies in not only knowing many others have the same problem, but a few kind souls offer solutions as well.
That said, I'm sure Apple is quite happy to offload a ton of support to a committed group of customers. I, too, have noticed the lack of Apple engineers from these forums. It would sure be nice to have them in the mix.

Oct 27, 2011 6:29 AM in response to bob55105by jpozuk,Thanks,
That is what I figured. However since this really looks like a programming bug, not sure what a user can do. Hope they at least scan these sites.

Apple doesn't post on these forums... it's only us users.

Oct 29, 2011 5:33 AM in response to edgewiseby Oceanracer425,I cleared the cache and history. And, I also turned on "Cookies from Visited Sites.". The cookies might be the critical piece. It works for me, now.

Oct 29, 2011 1:31 PM in response to edgewiseby Skaelight,@Oceanracer425, thanks for the suggestion; I have also enabled the same configuration and noted an improvement. Now when I press "back" I get the page as it was when I had just navigated from it, not the version from several days ago.
I'll keep an eye on it and will post if I notice anything else.

Oct 29, 2011 2:20 PM in response to Oceanracer425by Andreas66,I've had Cookies from visited sites on, tried also clearing cache but still have this problem, not always but occasionally.

Oct 30, 2011 8:44 AM in response to edgewiseby cynthiafromNB,I've been having the same issue (Safari loading from cache not a current page). This only happens on my iPad 1 not my iPhone 4. Very strange. I have cleared history and cache - no improvement. I have always had the "accept cookies from visited sites" checked. Maybe I should try unchecking that. However, Apple programmers need to be fixing this with an update, tout de suite! Not okay!

Oct 31, 2011 1:37 PM in response to edgewiseby ggwarpig,iOS5 changes the default cookie behavior of Safari to "Never Accept Cookies". Go to Settings->Safari->Accept Cookies and change it to "From visited" or "Always".

Oct 31, 2011 2:04 PM in response to ggwarpigby cynthiafromNB,@ggwarpig Thank you so much. I had read that my settings should be set to "accept cookies from visited" and that's what it had been set to so I figured the settings weren't the problem. But, after reading your helpful response I set my cookies setting to "always" and that worked! Thanks again.

Oct 31, 2011 2:13 PM in response to cynthiafromNBby jpozuk,While @ggwarpig seems to be saying visited or always are both ok, I changed mine to always and after two minutes of testing does seem better. This begs the question, "what is the difference between visited and always?

Oct 31, 2011 2:22 PM in response to jpozukby cynthiafromNB,@jpozuk I agree, those seem the same to me. Aren't cookies only saved from visited sites? Maybe I'm missing something Probably! That said, I'm happy to not have the problem anymore. Although, my husband is having a different problem on his iPad2. He is taken to his email when he touches the back navigation arrow! What the heck is that? Sounds as if an update is due! I'll try setting his cookies settings to always and see if that works on his ipad's problem as well.

Oct 31, 2011 2:25 PM in response to cynthiafromNBby paulcb,Was he accessing his email from Safari? If not and it's taking him to the Mail app, tell your husband to try a reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.

Oct 31, 2011 2:25 PM in response to jpozukby Andreas66,Some sites use cookies which contains an address referring to another site (e.g. related to advertising). That's why I'd only like to accept cookies related to the visited site only.
