IOS 5 and the keynote remote problems.

After updating to IOS5, the keynote remote on my iPod touch (4 gen) does link with keynote on iPad 2. Can only link over wifi. The Bluetooth link worked perfectly before update. I have tried all options I can think of, such as hard restart, restore on both devices. Can someone help.

Same here.

I read elsewhere that someone upgraded to a 4s and it resolved. But that is not a solution.

I hope they fix it soon as I use this remote in my job and there is no wifi in my classroom.

ADVICE: Go to iTunes and click on the REPORT A PROBLEM on the app page. This should get to them quicker than hoping they see posts like these.

Warm regards.

I have the exact same issue. Keynote remote on my iphone 4 will not connect to my ipad2 running a keynote presentation since the update of these apps to ios5. And I have tried everything.

But I found a workaround. On your iPhone running keynote remote, go to settings and open a wifi hotspot. Now go to your iPad and connect onto that hotspot. Now try and link keynote remote to your iPad and it works using the self generated wifi hotspot.

Not elegant but for some reason it works.

I have the same problem. Keynote Remote on my iPhone4 controls Keynote on my iPad2 perfectly when link them via wifi at home. But our wifi network at work blocks the connection, and I do not have wifi in other locations. I need to be able to use Bluetooth at work and other locations. But I cannot get the remote device to show up in Keynote on the iPad2. I think the problem is with Keynote on the iPad2. The Bluetooth symbol does not appear on the iPad2 when I am trying to link them. It does appear on the iPhone4.

I reported the problem on itunes as scubidoobie suggested. The reply I received was not helpful at all. They recommeded consulting the Apple support page for keynote remote, which is where I started in the first place. I agree that we should all bombard Apple via itunes about this problem (see scubidoobie's reply) and get them to fix it.

I found a workaround on another posting, which is clumsy but worked for me. It may be a solution until Apple updates the remote. The idea is to use another app that can link the 2 devices by bluetooth.

1. Get Pic transfer lite (free app) and install on both ipad and iphone (or ipod touch).

2. Activate bluetooth on both devices.

3. Launch keynote on one device and the remote on the other device.

4. Launch pic transfer on both devices and follow the prompts to sync bluetooth

5. Now double push the home button on both devices to pull up the multi-tasking bar

6. Open keynote and keynote remote on the relevant devices.

5. In keynote, go to settings, advanced, remote. You should now be able to link the remote - on the device running the remote, you may need to hit settings and then 'new keynote link'.

While I haven't tied this, this is not a "correct answer". This is only a work around. I had a presentation in front of a customer trying to maintain their business, and the remote failed us!! Luckily we were well prepared with other alternatives, but it threw our presenter off. The Bluetooth icon on the iPad is not showing on the status bar when I go to sync them. Hope it gets fixed soon as we really prefer this way of presenting!!
