Trying to get HP PSC 1215 printing over IP via router

Hello people, hope you can help as this is driving me nuts!

I have a router (Safecom SWAMRU-54108) that has a built in print server.
I have connected my HP PSC1215 to the router via USB.
I go to add printer, select IPP, enter the router address '192.168.123.254', type 'lp' in the queue box, name and location I enter as '192.168.123.254' and I select 'generic postscript printer' as the printer.

However, when I try and print something I keep getting the message 'Network Host 192.168.123.254' is busy; will retry in 30 seconds'

And nothing ever prints.

Anyone know what I am doing wrong??

Help me Obi Wan, you are my only hope...

To use any of the built-in network printing protocols on OS X, you must either have a postscript printer (postscript printers don't require a driver, just a PPD), or a driver that works with the CUPS system (a CUPS driver). So far, Brother is the only non-postscript printer manufacturer that provides CUPS drivers. For every other non-postscript printer, you need a third-party CUPS driver. Apple tried to get around this issue by including Gimp-Print drivers (open source CUPS drivers), but your model isn't in Gimp-Print (although you might try the generic Deskjet 900 series). I'm not sure your model is in it, but try hpijs and ESP ghostscript from:
http://www.linuxprinting.org/macosx/hpijs/
(Other CUPS driver providers:)

About the print server - is lp the queue name listed in the manual? The device-specific queue name is a part of the printer's address on any print server.
