Hi.
Since I updated my iPhone 4 to iOS 5, Cover Flow in Music app is terribly slow... Lag to see the covers. I've heard over there that iOS 5 doesn't reduce the size of the covers to a standard, so the iPhone has to resize them everytime you watch them.
And.. When device locked, playing music and you double tap to change the song, the cover also changes with a "long" lag..
Anyone having these problems?

My viewing of the cover flow will crash the player as well. Which can be seen in Settings, General, About, Diagnostics & Usage,
Diagnostics & Usage Data.
However when playing music my 3rd Gen iPod will not lock, If I pause the music it will lock.
Correction, As long as the iPod is connected to the charger it will not lock
when playing music, the display will dim after the set time. If it's paused it
will lock on the charger. If off the charger it will lock after the set time.
There does seem to be a lag but my cover did not change.
I've been having the same sluggish response with cover flow on my iPhone 4 after updating to iOS 5. I don't understand when everything else seems to be running more smoothly than on iOS 4.3.5 that cover flow is so choppy which is a shame since I have always liked this feature. I seriously hope Apple address this issue in the next update to iOS 5.
Well, apparently the resizing thing is true.. If your cover is 1000x1000, the iPhone will resize to a lower resolution when it has to show the cover. Imagine doing this for loads of covers in "Cover Flow", the A4 is not that powerful.
Two possibilities, Apple does it on purpose so we buy the "extremely fast" iPhone 4S or it's a bug. Pretty sure about the second one. Everything else runs great with iOS 5. But Music app with Cover Flow and changing songs when locked really *****. Such a pity. Hope they fix this soon.
My thoughts are the same as yours. I really think its a software issue and hopefully they will fix it this week.

It's also very slow on the iPhone 4S đ My first generation iPod touch is working way better on 3.0 !!!

I got the same ios5 issues.
The Cover Flow is now very slow when it doesn't freeze or simply crash.
I cannot use the cover flow anymore and this a probleme when you iP4-32 is full of techno mixes with a different artist for each track.
Hope this will be fixed very soon. The music player is by far the feature i use the most.
I have the same issue and really hope for a fix in IOS 5.1. Not just cover flow but the whole operation of the "Music" app. I never had an issue with the "iPod" app from 4.3.5. I'm sure a fix will happen, just hoping soon đ

Same problem for me : On a 3GS, it is not slow... it crashes!
Some covers are disapearing (they're OK in iTunes on my dektop, but not on my iPhone)

Becomes slow and seconds later...music app crashes....
on iOS 4.3 worked fine.
I've been having the same issue. I called customer service already but they have no clue about this and they always keep telling the same crap: "It is a new version of the OS so we'll fix some issues. Thanks for contacting..."

Oh, and yes the covers dont get automatically resized when you enter CoverFlow. I noticed right away cuz the covers were kind of pixelated ( i mean over-pixelated = too much pixels). That didn't happen before.
Same here. Since iOS 5 update cover flow is unusable. I didn't found other major bugs. I also don't like the store button on my music player. I feel that is pushing the user, can't see the point of that.

yes ....same here....
but solution is simply.... just resize your album cover photos to 150x150 and cca 40kb, and everything will work like a charm...
