Use my brand new iCloud @me.com email as apple ID

Hi to all, I updated all my software to support iCloud very easily and set up everything including a brand new email address @me.com and I want to use this new email address as my Apple ID except apple won't let me use this because it thinks it's a mobile me account on the Apple ID page. If someone knows how to change the Apple ID to that I'd love to hear their tip ! Also I have thought of just removing all my email addresses from my Apple account except the iCloud one hoping it will use that one as a primary emailand apple ID but I'm not sure if it'll work. Thanks for any help given !

I'm in a similar boat. When setting up iCloud I was forced to use my @mac address because my main address was already in use for Mobile Me. Now when I try to turn on iTune Match it doesn't work, because my iCloud Apple ID doesn't match.

The online instructions indicate I should be able to change my Apple ID, but it's grayed out in real life.

Finding no answers online. Looks like 73 people read Scott's dilemma and also had no answer. Am I stuck waiting in line at the Genius Bar?

If you had a Mobile me account and wanted to use the email address with iCloud, you should have migrated Mobile me to iCloud, if you create an iCloud account from scratch you can't use your email address because it is already in use.

I *had* a Mobile Me account, as in past tense. I let it expire because it wasn't worth $100/yr.

Now that we can get the same functionality for free on iCloud I'd like to migrate -- but don't think my old account is migrateable(?)

So, bottom line, how do I change the Apple ID on my iCloud setup?

Could you help me?

I did set up my new iCloud e-mail address, but my name was mistyped.

Ex.: My e-mail address should be”ehrhardt@me.com”, but I typed ”ehehardt@me.com”.

How can I re-establish, or re-setup my e-mail address correctly?
