why my iPhone 4s doesn't have Siri?

Having the same problem. Siri is not listed in the General settings list. If it's not there to be activated, what to do?

Siri is not available for all languages. If you have the phone set to an unsupported language Siri will not appear

Thanks Lawrence. My phone is on the English language setting and I'm using it here in Massachusetts. I have a telephone tech appointment scheduled for tomorrow morning at 10:00 am with Apple...hopefully that will be productive.

I've had the phone less than a week...wonder if I got a lemon instead of an apple? LOL

Yeah, Lawrence....I saw restrictions referenced in a previous message in this thread. I checked and there is not even a listing for Siri in the restrictions section. And I am connected to Internet by wi-fi and 3G....so I think I've explored everything. I'll report back after my discussion with Apple techs later today.

I just contacted Apple iPhone support and was told that SIRI is down currently and has been for several hours. I also learned that SIRI is actually in Beta- and will be down from time to time as they perform updates and tests. Interesting that they'd go into a full advertising campaign promoting a major feature that is still in testing, and they KNOW it will be down from time time.

Their justification: It'll be even better when it's finally finished.

To be fair, Apple have stated on their web site that Siri is in beta and not available in all countries.

Siri is an unusual situation. It's usability depends on speaker independent voice recognition, something that is in the "very hard" category in natural language processing. It depends on a huge sample size of voices, words and phrases. The only way to get a large enough sample is to have millions of people using it. Thus, it's not a service that could be released based on testing by a few thousand testers, as most other Apple products are. It was a brilliant move to release it as a Beta to 6 million iPhone 4S users. This provides a service to those users, and at the same time allows the servers to improve their recognition ability.

Well, I found out why my iphone does not have Siri....it is not a 4s, but a 4. Apple tech confirmed via serial number. Embarassing to be in dialog on this help site about this!

Oh well, onto discussions with work purchasing department to learn how this happened....

If you're in the US and using a supported language, yes.

I have it in english but i dont have its option in general or restrictions & when i hold the home button down it just take me too voice control...

There is a 8gb iphone 4s in white" - I dont think that is true. The 4s only comes in 16, 32 and 64gb.
