Siri Not Working on iPhone 4S

I had the same issue, for me when I disabled Siri, then re-enabled, all the issues went away. It may be contact related. When you update contacts for example, it seems to confuse Siri, but if you disable/re-enable it works just fine again

I got my 4s yesterday and Siri wasn't working for me either. Then I thought about the TV show IT Crowd and turned it off and back on and now it works great. Reboot.

Siri seems to malfunction after I update my contacts. This morning, right after I had added a new contact, I used Siri, and she kept kept getting caught in this endless search loop. About 30 minutes later, Siri worked perfectly. It seemed right after my contacts were "updated" that she worked fine.

I have tried to disable, reboot, reset, all the nice. Siri worked beautifully all of yesterday afternoon and now stopped workin since this morning. It seems to just not get any commands to he serve for processing, so says she cannot connect.

Anybidy know of any solutions out there other than disabling or rebooting (which do not work for everyone)?

I may try a restore if it continues, but I do. IEEE how that would help if it is a network or server issue.

Okay I was having the same issue. I think I finally figured it out. I read another thread where somebody had suggested going into your mail settings and turning off the contacts option. I did this, rebooted my phone and it seems to work really well now. I don't think this is a matter of Apple's servers being overwhelmed I think it really just has to do with the contacts

Ok so I was very frustrated myself until I fixed it. Maybe it's a work around for now :/ but hey it works lol

Here's what you do.

1. Add self (your phone #) to your contact list

2. Go to settings

3. Click Siri

4. Click info

5. Then finally, choose your name

Then it should work! Go on give it a try.

I have a large number of contacts.

SIRI has not been working for me.

I disabled SIRI.

Turned off phone.

Turned back on.

Enabled SIRI.

Now it works fine.

Do you realize the ramifications of this? I was in my car, expecting to use the "Call person name, mobile" command and I could no longer do handsfree dialing.

Siri now apparently requires network connectivity to do basic voice commands. It also requires Siri's servers to stay online 100% of the time.

This is going to cause atleast a few car crashes due to this loss of capability. I want my old handsfree dialing back so I can keep my eyes on the road!

Apple really messed up here. It should revert back to the old voice control engine in the event that SIRI is down.

I had some problems with connecting to the network the first day, but few problems since then.

I have 3,700 contacts, and Siri works without problems, except occasionally it cannot connect, and I need to retry. So, I don't think it is the number of contacts.The dictation is remarkable.

I had to change the number in my contact list to add 1+area code then Siri was able to make my call.

The call request I beleive is going to Apple's server 1st then to your called party

My question is Apple charging us for using Siri to place telephone calls??

Hey everyone, glad this issue has come up.ive had my 4s for 24 hours and not happy. Basically if I do a factory reset and run it from then , Siri is quick and really responsive, all my contacts are synced through iCloud so no problems there. However, I had a 3gs with all the usual settings that Im used and wanted on my 4s. So reset the 4sand chose "restore from backup" plugged it in and restored from my 3GS backup. Ever since then Siri works like a pile of crap. Doesn't respond, lags for ages before doing anything. It's just poor. Tried turning siri off, resetting etc. no go.

Any ideas?

The Siri on my 4S didn't work for 24 hrs. despite reboots and resetting network settings. On the phone, I went to iCloud, and turned Contacts to ON. Siri started working right away. For me, the Siri issue just may have been an iCloud issue.
