IOS-5 battery power drain issue

Did somebody notice a major power drain issue after iOS5 upgrade on iPhone4? Last night at midnight, it was ~90% charged. In the morning, it was 37% charged. By noon, it was dead. I didn't make even 1 call during this time. Connected to Wi-Fi at home and strong 3G signal. Bluetooth is off, location services are off, all that stuff. The same phone's battery would last for 40 hours with my normal usage with IOS 4.3.5. Anybody knows if any specific feature of iOS5 is causing this battery drain?

Hello everyone,

I was having similar issues with my iPhone 4S battery life, although it wasn't an everday occurance. Somedays it would drain 1% every few minutes and other days it was fine. It seemed like there was some sort of process running in the background that would drain the battery when the phone was in Standby.

Luckily, I was able to solve my particular issue and it solved the battery life issue for me. It had to do with a calendar event running in the background. Please check these two threads and see if this fixes your issue. Hopefully this will help some of you out. A quick way to check is to look at your pull down notifcations and see if the calendar looks "jittery" at all. Also, unanswered calendar invites caused a problem for me as well...

This might be a key to the answer. My iPhone3GS has been fine with the upgrade to iOS5 until 11/1/11. All of a sudden the battery starting draining before my eyes. I also noticed the "jittery" behavior in the Calendar section of the pulldown Notifications.

I had 1 outstanding meeting request which has now been accepted. It will be interesting to see if this changes the drain on battery life.

Well I feel like everyone I know who updated to ios5/ got an iPhone 4s has a battery drainage problem especially on standby. We tried everything from turning off auto timeline to gps locators not use directional reminders or even push for emails nothing seems to help. I think everyone has problem but a lot are not reporting it and some (who didnt own an iPhone or iPads before) don't know if it's their usage or a problem. It has just been acknowledged beta.1 has been released hope it'll take care of the software bug...

Ok here I go:

My new 4s, at first it would last at least 3 days, I could have pushed the limits a bit untill the 4th day. Normal use including wifi, 3G, twitter, facebook, newspapers (I turn stuff off when ready)

After I used bluetooth the first time the fun was over. Even now when I disable bluetooth after use the battery life is a problem now. I charge every day overnight. Just like my 3GS that I used for 2 years now. After I used my navigation software for the first time on the 4S same problem as above with bluetooth so it made it worse. I disabled the location stuff thats I do not need and push etc etc. I refuse to disable everything, because it is a smartphone indeed. I close every program after use, also from multitask.

I tried to contact apple to tell them about the bluetooth problem, but thats a mission on its own so not going to try that again. I guess they will find out for themselves.

My 3GS after installing IOS5: No real battery problems, but crashing apps because of lowmem.

My lady and her 3GS: Bad bad battery problems and lowmem problems. Battery drains fast and she does not even use location services, push, bluetooth etc etc. Just whatsapp, facebook, ebay etc for some shopping of course). She goes to bed with over 50% battery en around 3/4 o clock (diagnostics tool) the phone shuts down. She wakes up annoyed because the alarm did not wake her up. Since I installed IOS 5 on her phone it of course became my problem 😉 Going for a fresh install this week.

I noticed my iPad2 draining overnight (while it was unused). I have Push, iCloud, WiFi backup, all turned on. It happened on two different random days. Can't get it to replicate, but now I'm not trusting Mr. iPad2 so much for getting work done on trips or away from the office during the day...

No problem on my iPhone 3GS.

OMG.. I have a 3g and since the upgrade my battery drains completely in 7 hours with no use at all!!😠

I did all that was suggested...nothing running in the background, push is turned off...I even shut down cloud. My old samsung worked much better.

It's always something with this phone. Oh, not to mention I have NEVER seen "3g" on my phone. When not at home with my wi-fi the phone uses Edge which is absolutly useless. So I cannot get internet outside of my home unless there is wi-fi in the area. I pay for data and really never use it. ..it buffers for 30 minutes to an hour...

Was thinking of an iphone 4S as a Christmas gift for my son..no way. Going to look for something that is a little more reliable
