Nov 10, 2011 10:44 PM in response to jeffrogers01by ZigZagLens,Yeah dude, because your iPad battery is about four times the size of your iPhone battery. Is it really a big mystery to you why it would last so much longer?

Nov 11, 2011 12:02 AM in response to eytanfromhod hasharonby FrenchToast,Ditto on mine (a 4 too): upgraded yesterday night, went to bed leaving the phone untouched a whole night, still got 100% battery as we speak. WiFi is on, Bluetooth off, Compass Calibration and Time Zone Location are off too, all the other GPS-related functions are on.

Nov 11, 2011 2:30 AM in response to cleanman13by FrenchToast,FWIW, after a few calls, and some texting, with the WiFi still on, I'm still at 97%. So far, so good...

Nov 11, 2011 3:02 AM in response to cleanman13by FrenchToast,Mine was a general answer to the general topic, not specifically in response to your last post: many users have described their own predicament, usually widely differing in kinds and shapes. What I meant was, I too was impacted by this quickly draining battery syndrome since upgrading to iOS 5, and with this 5.0.1 update, I find my battery holding a lot longer, all other settings being the same.
Hence the "so far, so good" at the end my post.

Nov 11, 2011 3:05 AM in response to RakeshPDXby PeterSy,I applied the update last night and got to 100% battery charge at midnight. When the alarm (on the iphone) went off at 6.30am the battery was down to 97%. I will keep monitoring during the day.

Nov 11, 2011 3:07 AM in response to RakeshPDXby Fl0.,Hi to all,
same here... still no improvement with the battery...
Just did a full charging cycle.... wrote some msgs to friends.... 94% left.. -_-
effective usage about 15mins, but the "usage" section says 1h29mins (and 1h47mins standby)...
Seems like the problems haven't been solved yet
I am completely perplexed

Nov 11, 2011 3:20 AM in response to RakeshPDXby pugwash99,I was having same problem with previous version of IOS and hoped that latest release would solve but no joy.
I can stop the power drain and the overly hot phone by simply turning off the Reminders/Bookmarks/Notes synch with iCloud. I have everything else turned on. Backup to iCloud etc.
I am not sure if Notes and Bookmarks are to blame but I do know that in my case, Reminders are a no no.
Will wait for a complete solution.

Nov 11, 2011 5:48 AM in response to RakeshPDXby MarkAtlanta,Installed iOS 5.0.1 on 4S and 3GS yesterday. 4S was charging the whole night so I do not know yet if this helps. But I left 3GS with 90% of battery in the evening. This morning it was DEAD! 3GS with 5.0.0 was usually surviving 2-3 days on a single charge, with 5.0.1 it dies overnight. Now I am charging it and waiting to come back to life - it has been charging for 20 minutes and it still says battery is empty.

Nov 11, 2011 5:54 AM in response to MarkAtlantaby FrenchToast,Sounds like your 3GS battery is DOA. Don't want to repeat myself, but my Iphone 4 has much better battery life since 5.0.1

Nov 11, 2011 5:59 AM in response to FrenchToastby MarkAtlanta,3GS did not want to charge from the USB port, I finally connected it to iPad charger and it helped.

Nov 11, 2011 6:10 AM in response to RakeshPDXby reds15,Thank you everyone for your suggestions....EVERYTHING is turned off on this phone. The new update(fix?) didn't help either. This all started with the i0S 5. What is the sense of having an iphone if u can't use it to it's potential . When my contract is up I'm dumping this phone. There are many out there that are more dependable and work much better.
I'm just getting tired of playing with this thing, constantly going to the ATT store for help, lousy upgrades, shutting things down to save my battery, bad reception, and I don't think there is a slower phone...time to move on. In the mean time I guess I'm stuck with it
