Installed Os5, then plugged in iPad and MacBook died

I just installed the new Os5 Lion on my work MacBook, it was running fine, but the second I plugged in one of our iPads, everything went completely dead. No lights at all, not even charging or battery level (even though I know it is fully charged). Won't turn on, special commands don't work either. It is just a hunk of metal right now.

I can't get to the apple store until next week, so I thought I would post...any ideas?

MacBook Pro, iOS 5, I use it with 10 iPads

Same here. MacBook Pro 2008. Downloading software update this morning, screen went black and will not respond at all. Dim steady gray light in front. Tried removing the battery, will not reboot. Just dim light. Only the power button responds.
