updated to lion 10.7.2 with safari 5.1.1, now safari will not fully load so I cannot connect to internet at all

I just updated a mid 2010 MacBook Pro with Lion 10.7.2, and now the Safari 5.1.1 will not fully load. No other browser on laptop so I am unable to connect to internet at all. Suggestions?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.2)

Found the solution. Here is what worked.

For anyone else having the problem, here's the way to fix it and get authorized and get on the internet again.

=============

Open Keychain Access. It's in Applications=>Utilities.

Then in the Keychain Access menu at the top of the screen choose "Preferences..."

Go to the pane labelled "certificates." Check the first two items there. (Online Certificate Status Protocol and Certificate Revocation List). Both should "Off." If they say "best effort" change them to "Off." Then you should be able to connect (may need to restart the computer, but maybe not).

I am also having this problem. However, Safari works correctly in Safe mode and in my trouble shooting account. Safari worked normally at 4 pm today and at 9 pm, the next time that I tried it, I got a "Could not connect to server" message. Safari seems to have a problem with something in my normal user account that isn't in my troiubleshooting account or in Safe mode.

Internet works for me at home or at any other location but when i take my laptop to school (Moorpark College) it has a Secure network that requires a login. i think it is a Aruba Network thing and looks like http://securelogin.arubanetwork.com or something like that. Anyways it wont connect to that at all and once i try once and close safari then SAFARI, IPHOTO, KEYCHAIN ACCESS and more WONT OPEN at all. they all just crash until i restart my computer. I bought this computer specifically for college and if i cant use internet then i cant turn in my essays there. If anyone has found a solution to this please share. 😟

So far the only solution I have been able to find has been launching the recovery partition and running disk repair. That will fix the problem until you trigger it again. Fortunately, or unfortunately, I have pinpointed what triggers it on my computer.

Seems to be a flaw in keychain access. When Safari's connection times out due to an expired certificate (common in university networks that require a log in every few hours), the security settings freak out and effectively shut down safari's ability to do anything. The fact that it attacks KeyChain access and iPhoto and more is just a really big system wide glitch. Here's the run down:

I had the same issue that your describing. Could not log on at all to my university network which has a web portal. I was able to fix the issue by going to KeyChain and asking to see the package contents and removing the two .plist files. This effectivly makes keychain inoperable as far as I can tell. Now everything seems to work. What I want to know is if there is any way to reinstall keychain by itself? I originally removed the two .plist files because keychain kept crashing.

Killing Keychain is probably not a good idea. The solution from djs1122 works, however the bug I found where I couldn't even launch Keychain access to change the preferences only goes away when you connect to another network that doesn't use Captive Portal Hijacking.

For example, at home.

Also if you are a Firefox fan, look up my post on how to disable OCSP on http://connectionfailure.wordpress.com
