I would love to know this too. I am disappointed that there are no holidays in the icloud calendar.
I'm in the same boat, very interested on how to solve this. It's bad enough that my computers have all slowed down to a crawl with Lion - now having to do a reinstallation of everything... :-(
Count me in too. I can't believe that they don't have a holidays calendar built in.
You're all right. Totally sad that Apple, an international company, won't have a holidays calendar built into iCloud.
In all seriousness, maybe they can have future add-ons to download for region-specific holidays?
There is an app that I did. It's called "holidays". I downloaded that and sync my iPhone to it and it works great! Icon for app has an American flag on it. Hope that helps!
Thanks for the Holidays app recommendation--I downloaded and it works great! 🙂

No need for an app.
Just add a subscription to a holiday calendar to your iCal calendar.
What if you don't have an iCal? I'm running windows and all I have is iCoud.
No problem! Glad it worked!
That's fine for my iPhone and iPad, but I would actually like the calendar to display when I view it through the iCloud web interface. That's actually where I want to manage it because I rarely use iCal on my laptop.
But thank you for the suggestion -- that will work until Apple fixes the issue with an update to iCloud itself.

It should get pushed to iCloud same as your other calendars do/did when iCloud was first enabled.
Maybe add the holidays calendar to iCal, then turn off/on iCloud calendars?
I will check later tonight.
Add Apple's ics calendar of U.S. holidays to your iPhone or iPad:
Your wish is Apple's command!
In your Mac iCal application go to Calendar>Find Subscriptions... it will take you to an Apple download page with plenty of calendars to subscribe to. Since these are "subscriptions" if the calendar changes, you will automatically be updated, too.

You can also Google for iCal calendars (or use your favorite shareware download site) to find more calendars.
See, no whining was necessary...
The page looks familiar.
Thanks for the info, Richard. When I tried this, I got an error message stating that the account could not be verified. When I tapped Save, the message said "This account may not be able to reach a calendar". The calendar was added to the list of calendars, but there is no data in it.
