How do I sync my Safari bookmarks to my iPhone with iCloud?

I use Xmarks on my computers to sync my bookmarks to all my browsers (chrome, safari, mozilla, IE). I used to plug in my iPhone and the bookmarks would sync to my iphone too. Now with iCloud it doesn't work.

In iTunes it says:

User uploaded file

When I do an iTunes sync, these don't get updated. On the iPhone it says "Photos, Tones, Books, Music, Movies, Podcasts, iTunes U, and Apps" under iTunes Wifi Sync. Bookmarks are On under the iCloud option in iPhone Settings.

I have iOS 5, Lion 10.7.2, iTunes 10.5, Safari 5.1.1. Everything is up to date, and it's not working.

How do I get my bookmarks to sync??

I having the same frustrating issue, I've enabled wifi syncing on my phone and MPB for Bookmarks and am waiting and waiting for a sync to occur. I've deleted a couple of bookmarks on my MPB on Safari and have waited an hour for iCloud to sync that to my phone. Phone is plugged in and all. Nothing. Frustrating thing is that at least with MobileMe, you could force the issue by clicking the "Sync" icon at the top of the screen. But now I have a worthless MobileMe Sync icon taking up space on top of the screen telling me that "no devices are syncing", just a parting shot from MobileMe I guess.

How do you force iCloud to sync?

I understand. I tried what you suggested but it didn't work...let me know if I did it right:

on iPhone I turned off the iCloud setting for syncing bookmark.

on iTunes I turned ON the setting for syncing bookmarks.

Started the sync.

It fails telling me the bookmarks cannot be synced because they're in use by the iPhone. "Close the bookmark setting in the iPhone, then sync again".

Not even sure what bookmark setting it's referring to!

I am having the same issue. I use xmarks to sync across computers etc. The only time my bookmarks sync across my iOS devices & my MBP is when I turn off the iCloud bookmark sync setting on all of the devices, then turn it back on. Only during this toggle do things get synced. Otherwise, nothing.

If this is how iCloud is supposed to work, this is a big fail. I don't want to always rely on wifi sync for bookmarks.

so as of now, i don't have a solution. Have you found one yet? or are you still using wifi sync?
