UGH, using Iphone4s through Aux port in my car

I dont get it. First of all I know its not my car. The Droid X worked great.

I was using a 3.5mm aux port cable from my iphone4s to the aux port in my car. Everyone hears themselves echo when I do this. I know what it is. They are hearing themselves through the mic on the phone via the speakers in the car. I get it. What I don't get is why Apple can't fix it.

What I want is a solution. Can anyone offer one? I am reading up on a BT FM transmitter, but came here for suggestion.

I am very disappointed about this. I spend alot of time on the road. This is a big deal. The Droid X worked great this way. Made calls, listened to my playlists, free Navigation all through my stereo system through a $6 cable....

Help please!!!

I'm having a similar issue with my 32 gb iPhone 4s with Rogers. When using the Apple hands free headset with the phone during a call, I get the same echo problem. It does not occur immediately. It can very from 30 seconds into a call and as far up to 9 mins in before it begins the annoying echo. If I unplug the headset it goes away but will return when I plug the headset back in. I have tried 3 brand new iphone 4s headsets with the same problems. So far I have tried rebooting, and also restored phone back to factory original settings as a new phone and still no resolution. I have been told by the other person on the line a screech sound is made then the echo begins.

I have the same issue when jacking into my Ford Expedition! It drive my wife nuts. oBTW, toggling the speakerphone function does nothing to correct this problems for me....

This seems to be the exact same problem I have having. I have an iphone 4S which is replacing an old iphone from another phone service -- I needed to switch services. A big part of my usage is to listen to podcasts on a long commute each day. The only way the sound from the 4S will come through the car speaker system is to drive with my left hand and with my right hand, hold the auxiliary cord plug tight against the top lefthand port of the phone. If I don't, the sound cuts out of the speaker system and just comes through the phone's speaker. I bought a replacement auxiliary cable thinking my present one was too old. That didn't work, so I bought a Belkin from the Apple Store. That doesn't work either. I reported the original problem to the internet store and they immediately shipped me a replacement 4S, but the port on the most recent phone doesn't work either. So what I'm going to do is use the original iphone 3 with the now-deactivated phone service as an ipod for my car music and podcasts and keep my replacement phone for phone service and everything else. I am at the point where I think this port is a structural defect -- What would be the probability that I would have the same problem on two different phones? I have notified the tech people at my wireless service in case they hear from other customers about this, and I'm also going to contact Apple. Maybe if this happens to enough people they will design a cable that fits the port. I have been an Apple consumer since 1987 and never had a product before that didn't work as it should. This is a first.

Ok, here was my solution. I went out and bought a Motorola t-505. it solved the problem, however you will be using the BT unit to hear and speak for the phone. I have a USB port in my car so I use that to listen to the Music. I also have the option to use a certain station thru my car radio so I can simulate what I was able to do on my Droid.

This and the whole no turn by turn google maps maked the Droids so much better in these 2 areas. Seriously, Apple you can't fix this? Why wouldn't you fix this? and fix the **** Photo Stream issue. I want to delete ONE pic at a time **** it!!!

I gave my wife the Droidx and I gotta say, these 2 issues are HUGE, but I wouldn't trade in my 4s for NADA.

If a cable company would make a 3 ring aux cable. It's the 3rd ring that allows voice. Check ur apple headsets, it has 3 rings as opposed to the standard 2 cables. If you find that cable let us know...
