Greyed out "Sync now" button on iPhone 4 and iPad 2 won't let me synch to iTunes.

Dowloaded and installed IOS 5. Wireless "synch now" buttons on my iPhone 4 and iPad 2 are greyed out and won't let me synch to iTunes. I have previously synched successfully over WiFi.

Any suggestions?

iPad 2, iOS 4.3.3

Same problem here. I am using iTunes 10.5 on a Dell PC (Win 7 64 bit) with an iPhone 4S and an updated (iOS5) iPad 2. Wireless network utilizes a Verizon FIOS supplied router that supports a number of wired and wireless devices in our home. Both the iPhone and iPad are showing greyed out Sync Now buttons. I'm thinking that the hint may be the message under the greyed out button, that says "Sync will resume when [NAME OF PC] is available."

Could it be that iTunes needs access to a particular port? I'm wondering if my Kaspersky Internet Security or another program is blocking the port from use. Or perhaps there is a port conflict? Just a thought. Will wait for someone's solution in the meantime...

Hook your phone up to the computer (wired) and open iTunes. Click on your device in the device list on the left. Make sure the "Summary" oval is selected. Scroll to bottom and you will see "options". Under "options" one is "Sync with this <<device>> over WiFi". Check it and you should be fine from then on as long as iTunes is available and the device is plugged into power.

I have the same problem.

I have ticked the "Sync with this <<device>> over WiFi" box in iTunes. My iphone4 knows that it is supposed to sync with because it says "Sync will resume when <device> is available.

Furthermore very ocaasionally the button is not greyed out and and the phone appears in the iTunes window. Even more rarely, it will actually sync, but usually, the connection is just dropped during the syncing process.

HELP!!!

I have been having this issue every since I installed iOS5 on my ipad2. The sync button would be grayed out. What I noticed is, every time you want to sync over wifi you have to plug the ipad or iphone to the computer the under summary uncheck sync using wifi hit apply then recheck it and hit reply. this is very stupid thou because it you have to do this everytime then you might as well just sync when you connected. I knew there was going to be some major issues with this feature??? I hope they fix this soon because this was the feature I was most looking forward to.

Hey guys ive recently had the same problem. I tried connecting it to a power source and had it on the same network with iTunes open on my PC (which is running windows 7 btw) and it didn't work. I then remember a trick I used for when my safari on my 3gs wasn't working. On your phone go to Settings>Wi-Fi and then press the little blue/white arrow on the far right of your network name, scroll down and then press renew lease. I tried it once and it didn't work, but I then spammed it over over over again and after about 4 or 5 times i tried the Wi-Fi sync again, and it worked!

Hope this helps.

Had the same issue. Tried everything that was posted for troubleshooting bye apple and on the discussions. Windows 7 64Bit.

Finally, tried something that solved it and it works flawlessly now. I changed my wireless router.

I was using my ISP's supplied ZyXEL PN660 ADLS2+ with Wireless N. Swtiched to an older Linksys WRT160N and it is working beautifully now.

Take a look at your router, make sure the firmware is up to date, and that UPnP is enabled, and if all is correct, and you have done everything else, try another Wireless router if you can.

I know its not feasable for some, but it worked for me.

Greyed out "Sync now" button on iPhone 4 and iPad 2 won't let me synch to iTunes.
