iTunes to iPhone "Unknown error 0xE800007F"

I have Wi-Fi Sync active and it works great unplugged from power -- but when I plug my phone into power and it starts syncing, iTunes says the following:

"iTunes could not connect to this iPhone because an unknown error occurred (0xE800007F)."

Searching gives me zilch. Anyone have an ideas? Everything is running the latest verison of iOS, etc., etc...

So let me get this straight, there are now 16 pages of users confirming an issue with iTunes (me included) and we've heard naught from Apple...?

Seems par for the course really, doesn't it?

It's things like this that really disappoint me about Apple; a company that actually has the ability and wherewithal to provide decent support and communication but instead regularly employ an attitude that can best be described as disinterested and standoffish to customers who are willing to spend their hard-earned cash to buy their products.

And one could rationalise it by saying they're too busy spending their energies on getting these bugs sorted out to post on a forum but the evidence would prove otherwise, especially as we still see bugs and usability issues which were present in the 1st gen software.

I mean, how much effort does it really take to say, "hey guys, we're actually looking into this and hope to resolve it in an upcoming update or by [this date]."??

From a programming perspective it seems it has more to do with error trapping in iTunes. Most mornings when I sit down at my computer I have to dismiss a couple of these messages before I can use iTunes. Then, without any user input I see my 3 iOS 5 devices starting to sync over wifi without an issue.

If error = 0xE800007F THEN EXIT and try again later. This is a quick bandaid fix to eliminate the errors on our end. Then the software engineers can resolve the real issue.

Apple - please aknowledge the issue and allow us to hide these error messages like we can with other iTunes warnings.

Add me to the list. I was getting "could not save iTunes library file" error yesterday, and now this morning I'm in the "can't connect to iTunes/unknown error 0xE800007F" camp. MBP running 10.6.8, iPhone 4S running 5.0.1. All worked flawlessly until Jan. 17. I kind of regret crowing about iCloud and Wireless Sync on Facebook, as now I have to report this...

I know it might not be too relevant to this thread, but I got the same error code ending with "65" when I tried to sync my 4s over wifi with my mac, and the quickest solution so far is hitting command+Q and then starting iTunes again. Works flawlessly up to your next sync ;-)

Yeah this doesn't resolve the issue but it's way easier to ignore it while waiting for the upcoming update.

Updated to the new itunes but still getting the error. I noticed something new yesterday. The second after my phone gave me an alert that I had a new email (the phone was locked), the error message immediately popped up on itunes. Both the phone and the computer are on the same network. Just happened again. Seems to be a connection.

Windows 7 x64

iTunes 10.5.2.11

2x iPhone 4s 5.0.1

I have been having this error for quite some time and I think I have narrowed it down to the following:

When the IOS device first completes a wifi sync iTunes will 'hold' an association to the device after the sync is done. This is visible in iTunes as the IOS device shows 'connected' and you can view its info etc and then try and sync via the iTunes sync button for a short period of time. However if wifi is off or the IOS device has went into sleep mode then iTunes will eventually timeout to the device and remove it from the list of 'connected devices'. If you don't try and manually view or update the device from iTunes however it will keep the device listed as 'connected'.

The error in question happens later when iTunes tries to communicate back to the IOS device since it still thinks it's 'connected' and fails, then outputs this error. You can get the error to stop if you manually 'eject' the IOS device in iTunes after it has completed a sync. This however is a poor work around and defeats the whole purpose of wifi sync. It would be easier to just plug in the IOS device to the iTunes PC when you want to sync, then unplug when done.

iTunes should really just automatically eject the IOS device when it detects this communication failure instead of displaying this error and hopefully Apple will be able to release a fix soon.

@Alppolito - Sadly I have a strong suspicion that you'll experience the error again. Many others have reported the problem resolved after reinstalling, only to find it's back within a day or two at most. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
