Q: My iPhone 4s is stuck permanently on voice control. It dictates everything I do and the touch screen has become slow?

I was playing around with Siri, and I'm not sure if it's a software glitch or something i pressed. My phone is now dictating everything I do, and I can't figure out how to turn it off. The touch screen has become really slow and sometimes unresponsive, and I'm unable to scroll. Siri is also speaking with a very sped up voice. I tried rebooting, but nothing. Ideas?

I am having the exact same problem.

I have restored the phone, problem not fixed.

I have gone to settings, and through much trial, turned Siri off, problem still not fixed.

I ended up fixing it ... try fiddling with the power button and the home button at the same time. I just started clicking them both at the same time really fast because that's how I thought I might have accidently done it in the first place, and it went back to normal. Good luck!

Oy, I am so frustrated right now, and your answer is making me smile.

Right now I am trying a restore to new phone.  If that doesn't work, I will try your power/home button method.

    Thanks.

There have been some bugs reported about Siri. Just reboot and go from there. I guess we will all be getting our first Apple OTA (Over The Air) update VERY soon.

It's an accesibility issue... Double click to get into settings and then double click general. Use three finger scrolling to get to the bottom wher you will see accesibility so double click it. Inside you will see voice over is set to on. Double click that and set it to off as well as turning off hints. This should hopefully help you all out.

Click the button on the front of your i phone 3 timed in quick succession to switch off voice control & free up your phone.

This voice control activated because you have pressed the same button 3 times .

You can also turn off this triple click home button function voice over activation function to avoid this accidentily happening in the future.  Go to settings/general/accessibility then scroll to the bottom to "Triple-click Home" and  select "Off."

Wow...thanks.  The "3 clicks" just took care of the madness.  Who would ever want to operate this device in that mode???  Masochists?

Your VoiceOver has inadvertantly been activated.  Follow these instructions to turn it off.

If VoiceOver is on and you want to turn it off from the device instead of from iTunes, remember that a double-tap acts like a single tap and you need to use three fingers to scroll when VoiceOver is on:

    1. Press Home.
    2. Tap Settings. Then double-tap Settings.
    3. Tap General. Then double-tap General.
    4. Use three fingers on the screen to scroll to Accessibility.
    5. Tap Accessibility. Then double-tap Accessibility.
    6. Tap VoiceOver. Then double-tap VoiceOver.
    7. Tap "On"  next to VoiceOver. Then double-tap "On" to turn it off.

I had a password too. It's funky, but you have to highlight the enter password box at the top of the screen by double clicking. Then go to the area where the 4 boxes are to put your passcode. (this will be trial and error, I promise). Then select a number, then double click the box that says enter passcode. It was like you had to activate the number and then clicking the Enter Passcode box actually selected the number. Once you have entered one number the next ones are easier - press the number, click the Enter Passcode button. You always have to make sure the right thing is highlighted. Very, very annoying. Once I figured that out it took me about 6 more hours to figure out/find out how to scroll down on the settings page. Read the post by HillsterMac above - it's right on. I was about to throw my phone out of the window.
