What is the difference between Reminders and Calendar?

Hi, I am really confused with the two apps. I can record my activities and set an alarm with sound in Calendar, and the same thing I can set it in Reminders. So what is the difference between the two? Thanks.

The calendar is for appointments (e.g. dentist on tueday at noon). Reminders is for your things to do list (e.g. buy milk, put out the trash, finish research project). For some things, either app might work. I don't like to clutter my calendar with my things to do list, though. Try them both. Use the one that works the best for you.
