I can't get my iphone 4S to connect to itunes.

iTunes won't recognize my new iphone 4S at all when I connect it through the USB. The iphone WILL charge via this connection, but it doesn't show up in iTunes. Interestingly, iTunes will successfully recognize my wife's new iphone 4S when I plug it in, but despite all the standard troubleshooting it won't recognize mine at all. I've tried all the standard troubleshooting. Any ideas?
