1 item could not be synced. See iTunes for more information

After syncing my iphone 4 ios 5 with itunes the following message appears ''1 item could not be synced. See iTunes for more information''.

Everything seems to be synced however is there a way to find any information that itunes could not sync?

As a point, this worked for me. I had "24 errors" in the sync and coinceidentally there was an album with 24 missing photos (album name had changed). Killing the cache cleared the errors, and resyncing with the correct album worked without complaints..

This might not work for everybody, but... I noticed that right before the sync chokes, iTunes is processing photos. Likely, I figured, there's a discrepancy in what iTunes thinks is there and what actually is. An effective way to solve this issue (without obvious help from Apple / iTunes / iOS) is to remove the 'iPod Photo Cache' folder that's within the iPhoto Library on your synching system.

So, on my Mac, I navigated to my Pictures folder, right-clicked (or Control-clicked) the 'iPhoto Library' icon, selected 'Show Package Contents,' then scrolled until I saw the 'iPod Photo Cache' folder, selected that folder and deleted it. I then restarted iTunes to re-initiate a sync.

That seemed to resolve the "[n] tems could not be synced. See iTunes for more information." problem for me (which was occurring on my iPad 2 and iPhone 4S equally). Might work for you, too.

how do you do that? I have restarted my phone several times but it hadn't made a difference.

I get "33 items didn't sync" every single time. no idea how to tell which they are... I (like most people) have gigs and gigs of music and pictures- no way can I check every single one.

It says "check itunes" but then itunes doesn't have any sort of info...

Aha! Actually, guys - after further troubleshooting, it seems to be the source of our problems is 3GP video files that are in iPhoto. If you stop syching videos from iPhoto in iTunes, or if you search for 3GP files and delete them / move them into an iPhoto folder you don't sync, I'm betting your problems will disappear, too. Seems to be a problem with the latest iPhoto revision, but I don't know anybody at Apple who could be notified about it if y'all verify my further findings.

I got the "6 items could not be synced" error and eventually figured out I was unable to play 6 purchased songs on my iPod touch after the OS upgrade. The song was skipped or just idled on the play window without playing. I tried many of the solutions on this page and finally got them to work via this method:

Kill music app on iPod (I actually killed all apps, including iTunes)

Remove offending songs from playlists that sync to iPod

Sync iPod so it deletes the songs
Check music app to see if they were deleted - kill app again

Add songs back in to playlists to be synced

Sync iPod

It loaded the songs back on, and now they play. I still get the "1 item could not be synced" error, but I don't know what that one item is, as all the songs I was having problems with are playing now. They really need to fix whatever bug isn't letting us see the problem.

I don't have iPhoto but I still have this problem. I'll look for the photo cache and give this a try.

I don't know if this is a related problem, but many times that I do a sync, iTunes decides to sync the whole photo library from my PC to the iPhone, even though the photos haven't changed. Does this happen to anyone else?

Hi everyone,

The 'Correct Answer' as posted by LockerGnome is not the correct answer, at least when a PC is involved, as I have been able to reproduce the error afterwards. It only fixes the problem temporarily. How do you change its status?

This is how I was able to reproducet the "1 item could not be synced" message. I don't know if everything is a prerequisite but these are the conditions:

INGREDIENTS

One iPHone 3GS 32GB fully up-to-date, with iCloud, photo stream etc., all activatd.

One Windows 7 64bit PC with iTunes 10.5, all up to date, photo stream etx. active.

* The iPhone and PC must previously have been set to sync with each other, over-the-air syncing may or may not be a prerequisite.

* iTunes should be set to sync photos from the PC to the device. It may be a prerequisite that only certain subdirectories of the Pictures folder are set to be synced.

METHOD

1) Press the home and the unlock/on/off button on the iPHone together to make it take a screenshot.

* Taking a photo may also work but I haven't tired this yet.

2) Wait a few minutes for photo stream to receive the picture.

3) Launch iTunes on the PC.

4) Select the iPhone in iTunes.

5) Press sync.

6) Wait for the sync to complete.

RESULT

These things will happen:

* All the photos that are set to be synced from the computer will be uploaded to the iPhone, even if they haven't changed.

* At the end of the sync, the iPhone will display the message that items could not be synced, and to check iTunes for details.

Also, there is no additional icon iext to the iPHone that you can click on to find more information. Perhaps this icon only appears when syncing via wire.
