iOS5 Notification Center - Problem with calendar entries

Hi,

I've just installed the iOS5 on my IPhone 4 and I find the Notification Center very usefull, but I've found a bug that's really annoying me. I want to check if someone here has a workaround or a permanent solution to the problem...

I have several calendars synced to my phone;

  • A Notes Calendar that's made available via Traveler (mail and calendar gets synced to the device via an installed profile)
  • Gmail calendars (syncing multiple calendars by first adding my account and then going to

https://www.google.com/calendar/iphoneselect to activate other calendars available to my Gmail account)

My problem is that even if i disable all the calendars in the calendar app, events from these calendars still pop up in the Notification Center. This can't be way it's supposed to work?

Best regards,

Marcus

I got around this thanks to Google calendars. My wife and I share some calendars, but not all, so we were getting unwanted notifications. I simply moved her private calendars into her Google calendar (using export and import in iCal, after adding her google calendar to iCal), and then added her Google account to HER iPhone, not mine, that's it.

Still waiting for the bug fix, though...

This drives me crazy....the calendar bug seems to me to have more problems. For instance, when I only select iCloud calendar to view, I still get reminders/appointments popping up from my 'on my mac' calendar, and once this shappens, the settings seem to re-check that calendar so i have to go back and switch it off again in the calendar app, leaving just the iCloud calendar again. Does anyone else have this problem or am I missing something obvious?

Frustrating that now as we are at iOS 5.1.1 there is still no fix for the issue. I called Apple a little while back and the representitive made a mention as to that this was a 'feature' of the notification center and not a bug. I think 'features' are supposed to make for better usability, not an inability to use a function. With that said.. any workarounds? Right now, I'm doing the following: My brother and my wife both share their calendars with me, iCloud to iCloud. I started two iCloud accounts, one for the intended purpose of iCloud (syncing all of my calendar events, contacts, etc.) and one simply for their calendars to be shared to. I've included that iCloud account only on my iPad and turned off calendars in the notification center on the iPad. So if I want to see their calendars I can now use my iPad for that purpose.

Please also send a bug report to Apple if this issue is bothering you --- discussion forums are just that, for discussion.

Thanks for any advice you can provide about the above and for any other work-arounds!

Ok, so it's not really a fix but I find that if I go into the email, calendars etc. section of settings, and click on the account of the calendar that I don't want to show, and disable (switch off, not delete) the calendar from the account, then it doesn't show in the notification center. When you renenable it the same way it automatically shows the calendar in the calendar app (I.e has a check mark next to it in the calendars list) and reappears in notification center. Sooo, if instead of unchecking the undesired calendar inside of the app itself, we can disable the calendar of the account in the settings and it solves the problem. It only adds two extra button pushes to disable the calendar both on the calendar and the notification center, and reapplying the calendar both in the app and in notification center is just a simple swipe to turn it on.

Path: settings-email,contacts,calendars-accounts. Select desired account and switch off calendar

This doesn't solve the problem at all. I have my coprorate sync account with two calendars. One is my calendar of appointments, and one is a resource calendar with everyones schedules. I don't want the resource calendar showing in the notification center b/c there are more than 10 employees, and then I can't see any of my actual appointments for the day.

I also don't want to turn off my whole account, b/c then I wouldn't get any appointments for the day.
