Sim Card Failure No Sim with iPhone 4S Anyone Else?

Got the new 32GB iPhone 4S today from AT&T, activated the phone was working all morning, I started experimenting with Siri and a couple minutes later the phone was hotter than usual and I get Sim Card failure, and Bad SIM messages. The phone now only says No Sim. I get home take out the SIM card and put it in my previous iPhone 4 and it works just fine. I then put in a blank micro SIM into the new iPhone 4S, but it still says NO SIM. Thinking the SIM reader got fried some how already.

Anyone else have this problem maybe a bad batch out there, or I just got an unlucky lemon?

I made an appointment for the genius bar tomorrow, but I seriously doubt they will have replacement stock of the 4S already. Guess I will find out what my next course of action will be tomorrow trying to get a replacement since new orders are taking 30 days to ship I am afraid I will have to wait awhile to enjoy the new features of my already paid for phone 😟

Latvia,Tele2 LV, iPhone 4s, 16 gb, 5.0.1

Using it for 2 days, yesterday I made 3 calls out of 50, today 0 out of 30, something like that. And yesterday I was able to receive something about 15 calls, today the same. Today at day all the time had “No Service” message, now at home it shows 3 service bars and can receive calls from my second phone, but can’t call anyway. Here in Latvia is no Apple store, so I have 14 days from purchase date to return it and get all money back, it was unopened for 3 days so I have 9 days left.

I thought that I pay for quality, not for brand. But now it looks like message from Apple to the world: “Look, we can sell very raw product and even with it beat selling records.” There is no any official message from Apple that they know that this problem exists (I don’t believe that they don’t know) and that problem will be solved.

I like iPhone 4s very much, but I would like it more if it would be able to act like a real phone. If in a week there won’t be any information or updates from Apple that this will ever be fixed, I would have no choice, only to return this to shop and buy phone with Windows or Android. If I would want iPod, I would buy iPod. I needed iPhone, but got iPod. No, that’s not the deal. And there is no prove that this problem will EVER be solved.

pluck007: I am glad that you got your phone replaced and I'm happy that it's now working for you. since you are also in Poland, can you tell me whether the phone you purchased was bought through T mobile PL or did you buy it from Apple in Poland or somewhere outside of Poland? And most importantly: how come you got it replaced so fast, considering that there is no Apple Store in Poland (I mean the physical store). thanks. My phone was originally bought in London and I just gave it back to Apple here in PL via Cortland... they told me I'd have to wait 21 days :-(((

Guys, I don't get Invalid Simcard message anymore, but I still do loose network, but you know what, it happens only when I am on using my data network. I've spend last 1,5 days at home and was always on wifi and didn't have any problems. Today I went out to the grocery store and lost signal for 20 mins till I took the simcard out and put it back. I think it's a trend. last time I've lost connection was outside the house as well.. So I still have hopes it's a software issue and will be solved with the next update. Fingers crossed..

BTW, I've call Apple Care yesterday and they said, there is no solution for this issue yet... 😟

Update from my side:

About "No service":

Left phone for night, in the morning got "No SIM" message. Rebooted phone, it found operator. As I can see, while I get service I can recieve calls, it's great. Sometimes if somebody calls me - I can reply. After conversation - no network again. But every time when I try to call by myself I can't even cancel a call - I lose network and its Searching for 1-2 minutes. I don't know what exactly I did, but now my iPhone acts like a phone for 20%, kind of good news.

About battery:

I have disabled 3G, location services, wifi all stuff and with 100% battery before sleep now i've got 66%. Used for 1 hour and 9 hours of waiting (I was reading a book on min brightness)

Well after switching Cellular data off there is no 3G icon near operator.

By the way very weird thing - after night in morning i get "No sim" message, during day it's most time in Searching and No service state and at evening I almost dont have "No service" problem.

This problem needs to be fixed ASAP, but as I can see you, guys, have it for one and a hald month. How much more time will it take? I feel very upset because of this.
