Sim Card Failure No Sim with iPhone 4S Anyone Else?

Got the new 32GB iPhone 4S today from AT&T, activated the phone was working all morning, I started experimenting with Siri and a couple minutes later the phone was hotter than usual and I get Sim Card failure, and Bad SIM messages. The phone now only says No Sim. I get home take out the SIM card and put it in my previous iPhone 4 and it works just fine. I then put in a blank micro SIM into the new iPhone 4S, but it still says NO SIM. Thinking the SIM reader got fried some how already.

Anyone else have this problem maybe a bad batch out there, or I just got an unlucky lemon?

I made an appointment for the genius bar tomorrow, but I seriously doubt they will have replacement stock of the 4S already. Guess I will find out what my next course of action will be tomorrow trying to get a replacement since new orders are taking 30 days to ship I am afraid I will have to wait awhile to enjoy the new features of my already paid for phone 😟

Wow,

It seems I'm not alone.

I have a uk ips4 which, for nearly a week, has been telling me I have an invalid sim.

I have ordered a new sim but am now concerned about its success.

It is running 5.0.1 at the moment and although I can understand the prospect of it being an update issue can anyone explain why the same problem doesn't exist on my ipad2 with the same oft ware and sim?

I have now had my 3rd iPhone 4s fail moved to another country had the last phone for 5 days working then it crashed lost phoning ability, updated to 5.01 rest restored 5 times,

But this one has a better battery life, than the last two,

And nothing no sim,sim failure, can't make any calls in or out.

And they won't replace it in another country, so I have to go back to the country where I bought it from,

So apple is not exactly good at making phones any more, I want my money back, and will I get it I doubt it very much.

Hi Alsammak

Welcome )) , i just keep getting updates of couple of apple disscussion threads on email including this and it is very interesting when apple fix this. I read and reply from my S2 and now just smiling reading all this, btw another two people got s2, so total 6 including me, 6 people LEAVE!!! apple, before they ALL wanted iphone some of them had 3GS and it is all after my free "AD" for apple phone. What i did, i just gave them link to this customer "support" page and gave them my dusty "iPOD4S" 64GB from my drawer. Another notice, I have friend who bought iphone 4S 64 white for his wife on new year.... It is on the way back to store! And this is not SIM FAILURE as mine, when she makes a call people does not here what she says just silence, why I telling this here.. becouse apple is not what it was when Steve was there!!! And it is a SHAME! to sell such "phones" keeping in mind that it is the most expencive smartphone! And now it is the most buggy! And this is all ok if they fix it! But now apple is the most ignoring company! Mark my words, after 3 or more moths something will change on phone market and it will be not good for apple and probaply this forum will play not last role in apple's phones sad future (not talking about iPad or mac pros.. keep waiting for iPad3).

Have a nice day!

Hey guys!!

I also had this problem. Changing SIM Card solved it...this has to do with compability issues. The first SIM card i had was recent. Didn't work, was getting the "invalid sim" message all the time. Bought a new one and the chip looked different. Worked like a charm, never got the message again...

Best of luck!

Cheers

I'm in the same situation. I bought my 4S in Belém, Pará, Brasil, and after 10 days, it started the SIM bug and the lost of signal. I tried 2 restores, one of the them with the SIM and a backup and the other without the SIM and with full restore. All the same! I also have a developer account but without paying the anual tax, you cannot download the beta. Well, let's wait the final release 5.1.

Everyone who have sim failure problem just update to new beta3 iOS 5.1. And your problem will be solved.

In order to update you don't need developers account. Just download iOS 5.1 beta3 http://www.multiupload.com/UN5F70GHG0

Then you NEED TO UPDATE(shift+update) via iTunes. Pay attention UPDATE not RESTORE. If you restore you cant then activate your phone.

FINALLY I GOT WORKING IPHONE 4S
