Q: Sim Card Failure No Sim with iPhone 4S Anyone Else?

Got the new 32GB iPhone 4S today from AT&T, activated the phone was working all morning, I started experimenting with Siri and a couple minutes later the phone was hotter than usual and I get Sim Card failure, and Bad SIM messages.  The phone now only says No Sim.  I get home take out the SIM card and put it in my previous iPhone 4 and it works just fine.  I then put in a blank micro SIM into the new iPhone 4S, but it still says NO SIM.  Thinking the SIM reader got fried some how already.

Anyone else have this problem maybe a bad batch out there, or I just got an unlucky lemon?

I made an appointment for the genius bar tomorrow, but I seriously doubt they will have replacement stock of the 4S already.  Guess I will find out what my next course of action will be tomorrow trying to get a replacement since new orders are taking 30 days to ship I am afraid I will have to wait awhile to enjoy the new features of my already paid for phone

    Hi,

Same problem for me. No Sim error, I noticed that it happens mostly at night or at some point early in the morning...  Also I have problems connecting to the network several times a day. I already try to restore, downloaded again the latest update (9A406) and restoring all the settings and nothing had worked. I live in Guatemala, and my carrier is Claro.

    HI,

iOS 5.1 installed. First view i see 2 new features: The camara shortcut now always visible on Lock Screen for a easier access; now is possible to desable the 3G, like IP4.

Here (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1504) apple describe the new featrures and they claim the correction of battery live but they dont say anothing about the "Invalid SIM" and network problems. Let us see.

OK...here I am....5 iPhones replaced over the past month. Do I upgrade now to this new version or should I wait a few days to see if this takes care of the SIM problem OR just take this failed unit back for replacement # 6.

    Input needed!  :-)

    @p_rod50

What do you have to lose?

I have already upgraded to the 5.1 full release. Everything good so far, but only 2 hours since upgrade. I will keep you all informed.

Wibbly le Monda says: "What do you have to lose"?

All I can can say is I've lost faith in Apple.... I have had 5, five, phones replaced in the past 6 weeks, I have tried every "solution" to fix this problem, ALL have failed miserably.... so why take a chance on the new software since "an upgrade" from the original software seemed to cause all this in the first place....so what's going to happen to my phone with the new software? Is Siri going to grow testicles and have a deep voice? Is my GPS going to be off a mile or more? Are my contacts going to disappear into the ethers never to reappear again? Is my calendar going to go nuts and place 5 events for each one I enter and repeat them whenever it wants to? I'm just not so sure I want to jump on this bandwagon right this moment......maybe I'll let some of you beta test it for awhile before I try it.

All I can say is this....if this problem is not corrected this time around..I'll let this iPhone go and find something else more reliable....it's just that simple.....

@p_rod50  I think most of us will agree that if this update doesn't fix the problems we're ditching our iPhones. I certainly will. This wait has been ridiculous. I've had an iPhone 4S for four months and it hasn't worked properly yet ... Talk about a crappy customer experience. Are you listening, Apple?

I'm happy to beta test for you, because I actually can't imagine this phone getting worse.

BTW, almost three hours in, and no restarts needed yet.

    updated to 5.1  today.....

    invalid sim card issue: fixed....

conectivity problem... got alot worse.... now 3gsm data pressent serius problems,... it restarts every 30 sec, and makes navegation imposible.... isusue is fixed by turning off 3gsm to switch to EDGE, but only works for the chats like whatsapp etc.... and the worst of all, now calls over phone drops, or receptor cant hear me, this wasnt happening in 5.0.1, but yea, there was the invalid sim card problem..

conclusion:: 5.1 make things alot worst... i prefer invalid sim card issue

solution: ask to ur carrier for a new iphone, couse this thing cant downgrade to 5.0.1

con gratz Apple u just fail big time

6 hours on 5.1 and still going well ...

Been digging a little ... and I see that the Modem firmware has gone from 1.0.14 to 2.0.10 ... that seems like a major step.

    Проблему так и не исправили.

Пока более стабильно, но, как показывает практика, проблема прогрессирует обычно. Более часто пропадает симка или сеть, позвонить становится практически невозможно.

Поражает, такое отношение Apple к своим клиентам.
