Q: Sim Card Failure No Sim with iPhone 4S Anyone Else?

Got the new 32GB iPhone 4S today from AT&T, activated the phone was working all morning, I started experimenting with Siri and a couple minutes later the phone was hotter than usual and I get Sim Card failure, and Bad SIM messages.  The phone now only says No Sim.  I get home take out the SIM card and put it in my previous iPhone 4 and it works just fine.  I then put in a blank micro SIM into the new iPhone 4S, but it still says NO SIM.  Thinking the SIM reader got fried some how already.

 

 

Anyone else have this problem maybe a bad batch out there, or I just got an unlucky lemon?

 

 

I made an appointment for the genius bar tomorrow, but I seriously doubt they will have replacement stock of the 4S already.  Guess I will find out what my next course of action will be tomorrow trying to get a replacement since new orders are taking 30 days to ship I am afraid I will have to wait awhile to enjoy the new features of my already paid for phone

    Same here, turning off cellular data traffic does not help, there was still a SIM card failure after a few hours.

    I got my iphone 4S from the store in CANADA, and it`s givin me the same message Sim card failure, and I was on a trip, I actually live in Brazil, and I really don`t know what to do, because here you canot take to the apple store em receive a new one. I have already tries differents sim cards and nothing.

    I have the same problem that I bought the phone in Australia and currently I am living in Vietnam. I made 4 phone calls to Apple Australia and it costed me nearly equal the price of the iphone because the 3 different consultants told me that I can get the phone exchanged in Singapore while in Singapore they said I can't. So on my last phone call to Australia, I received the answer that I can't get the phone exchanged in Singapore! So now I have no choice but to send the phone back to Australia to get it exchanged. What a pain in the **s! Very dissappointed with Apple not only about the product but also the service!

    Sent my 'SIM FAILURE' phone back to Apple on Monday afternoon in their pre-paid packaging. I'm at work and my other half has told me it's already come back and it's only Wednesday. Can't imagine they tested it unless it showed the error straight away. I'll restore the phone tonight and let you know how I get on.

    I am also living in Vietnam. I have managed to get my 4S working, but not on my carrier (Mobifone).

     

    Which carrier are you using? If you are not using Mobifone I can give you some suggestions on how to get your phone working.

    Итак, мне кажется, я решил проблему : iphone 4s, kyivstar.

    Изначальный микросим не захотел работать на 4s хотя на старой 4ке все было ок.

    Отправившись в офис Киевстара, я долго пытался обьяснить что мне нужна карточка 128кб.

    "мы не знаем какие карты нам поставляют" , говорили они.

    Но спустя какое то врея, методом визуального сравнения я взял большую карту на вид отличающуюся от микросим.   (внимание: на микросим черные полоски, контакты о бокам шире чем на работающей карте, еще раз : вам нужна карточка где поперечные олосочки находятся ближе друг к другу нежели на обычной микросим)

    Вообщем не знаю что да как, но пока 3. Часа полет нормальный:) дальше отпишусь. Кому надо, пишите на мыло скину фотки обеих карточек что бы вы понимали разницу.

    NO Steve NO Apple!!! Now it is obvious!!!

     

    If 5.0.2 does not solve the problem I return the iphone and get android phone.... I was with APPLE from first iphone 2g and was changing it every year to newer model, also I've switched 4 my friends from nokia to iphones, now it is enough! Two of them have the same problem with 4S!!! Two was smarter and refused to buy 4S!!!

     

    AND NO REPLY FROM APPLE!!!! NICE JOB!!!

    Oh noes, I have my iPhone 4S sim in a really old phone (you can only call and text, dark ages or what) while my 4S is away being repaired and it's just randomly said 'Unregistered Sim' after working fine! Turning the phone off and back on again the same as with my 4S solved it.

     

    It's a replacement Sim so it's really odd, could my 4S have damaged my Sim in some way? It's only happened the once and I've been using it for 3 days almost, not sure what to make of it.

    Привет. Меня задолбал уже мой 4s... До обновления на iOS 5.0.1 все отлично работало. Ну единственное быстро садилась батарея... По сравнению с 4.  Сейчас постоянно теряет сеть... Менял микро сим у оператора... Не помогло.  Раз 10 восстанавливал прошивку с настройкой как новый телефон. Тоже не помогает. Я уже в бешенстве.

    Если и это не поможет.. Продам его нахрен и возьму четверку.
