Q: Sim Card Failure No Sim with iPhone 4S Anyone Else?

We'll find out when the next version of iPhone Baseband and Modem firmware is released. If you have access to the iOS developer program, I'd love to know if the Beta of 5.1 fixes your problem ....

Nov 28, 2011 9:24 PMby Parakou,Thanks for the insights, what you write makes some sense. As I wrote, I wasn't sure whether it was the new SIM or the tape. However, here's where I'm lost. I cut my wife's SIM down to a uSIM as well, and she's not experienced any problems. So it would seem that it is a combination of SIM and iOS version. I (and more importantly she) don't feel like testing it out by updating her OS to 5.0.1 to see if she starts experiencing the problem.
I'm just thrilled that my phone is working again.

Nov 29, 2011 12:33 AMby getresponse,I'm in the process of installing iOS 5.1 on my wife's iPhone 4S that has the "invalid SIM" issue. Previously, nothing helped (incl. hard reboots, full restore, SIM PIN switched off, tape put on the SIM card etc.). If 5.1 beta doesn't help, I'm returning the phone.

I live in Russia, St. Petersburg and got this phone as a present. With some troubles...
I can't buy microSim of my operator (Tele 2 Russia) becouse they have only standart Sims, so i cutted it.
On my last iPhone 4 it worked very nicely, but with 4S... iTroublePhone =(
I'll write after installing 5.1 beta

I've changed 5 SIM-card already (2 micro-SIM and 3 regular SIMs) but my iPhone 4S 16Gb from UK works with troubles too. I get some "SIM failure" messages but mostly it is just "no network" error. Seems there is not cellular operator in Russia who can provide 128k sim-cards..

Nov 29, 2011 1:04 AMby fylzz,Having issues too with my microSIM(non cutted) with Orange France. Requested new SIM got it yersterday. They don't know if it's a 128k and there is nothing written on it besides MFD 12/2010. The chip on the new sim looks different, the pins/pads are having a more curved shape and it looks like the chip is not touching the sim tray anymore. I'll keep you posted in 24h if the problem is solved (or not).
